Not a dumb question at all! Cause I ask the same a few weeks ago. Check out the link.
Spray silicone that doesn't contain petroleum products.

Food Grade Silicone

Someone on this thread a while back said they sell this by the can for $6.00 a can. I don't know that for a fact. HTHs. Tom

Farmer Jim, Many of your larger RV supply stores also stock food-grade silicone as it's recommended by the RV industry for slide-outs. Will not discolor your carpets when the slide is operated.

I think I may have found the problem. When I got off work Thursday the rain had stopped so I went out to investigate. I found a column of little tiny leaves and blossoms at the bottom of each slide-out behind the vertical seal. One column was about 18 inches tall and they were wet and rotting. I would never have thought about stuff accumulating there, but it makes a perfect conduit to leach water into the lower corners of the slide-out. I would bet money on this being the culprit. I think the way leaves and debris gets into this area is by falling on top of the slide-out and then the wind blows it into the corner. When this happens, it falls down behind the seal. When it gets to the bottom it can't get out so it starts to accumulate and it will not fall out when you bring in the slide. At any rate, we had an additional three inches of rain over the weekend and the wet area remained dry. I feel pretty sure this was the problem. I would recommend that all of you put this on you list of things to check for periodically. Murphy's law is always at work!
