Carpet cleaning

Ok everyone, thinking about steam cleaning my carpets. I am concerned about the moisture applied to the carpets could cause problems later in years. Suggestions, comments? I think this is a great topic for discussion.

Once again, thanks in advance for all advice provided

I had carpet that was glued to the inside walls of my boat. They had a lot of mildew on them. I pressure washed them and got rid of the mildew. Then borrowed a dehumidifier from my friend and it took all of the moisture out. Had to keep emptying the bucket so it took a couple of days. In the end it was totally dry.

Hello! I am the owner of a small carpet cleaning business in Virginia and have cleaned many rv carpets over the last 10 years. Rv carpet is very much the same as any residential carpet and is almost always synthetic in construction. It can tolerate very aggressive cleaning. The key to a good job is the same as it would be in your house, proper techniques and good equipment. With any type of cleaning it is the amount of moisture left behind that causes things like re-soiling and wicking. In my experience, rv carpet cleans very well and if you have it done on a warm low humidity type of day, it will be dry within a few hours and look like new!

I had Stanley Steamer come do my last MH. Did a good job on both carpet and upholstery. Opened windows and ran the fan to circulate the air until it all dried. No problems.

We have off white carpeting. Needs cleaning often. We have a Bissell carpet cleaner. No problems. Dries in a few hours.

I cleaned my coach carpet with my Hoover Max Extract carpet cleaner. It was dry and ready to go the next day.

No problems except I tried to use the hand tool around the seat/doghouse area and the carpet kind of tried to come loose a little, so be careful around that area.

I need new carpet in my coach eventually, down the road when I win the lottery..!

I have a Hoover SteamVac (ages old)that I use after every season (winter/summer). Even though it seems to be almost dry, I open the roof vents and turn on fan. Unit is 7 years old, still doing okay. My carpet by the way is a tight weave.
