Extended warranty company

Just thought I would start a new thread asking about warranties. Does anyone have a recommendation about wich company would give the best coverage and service now that we no longer have factory coverage. My unit is only 3 months old but we had very few issues on its first trip. Will extended warrants cover the structure and frame?

our extended insurance is through Cornerstone. We purchased it through Wholesale Warranties (wholesalewarranties.com) and saved about $600 from what dealer was going to charge. We had Route66 warranty for our previous unit. Had good service with them and you get 10% off purchases at route 66 dealers.

We bought a 6 year service contract, aka extended warranty, thru Route 66 when we bought our motorhome in 05. The first issue with the electric steps was handled without any problem. After that it was a fight to get anything covered. There was always a reason for not paying that required a second or third try, I think just to see if we would give up. The last claim was for a non functioning Sharp microwave with a known problem. They said I would have to ship it to the east coast to see if it could be repaired. I would have had to pay shipping both ways which they knew would be more than the cost of me buying a new one. I bought a new one, installed it myself and never troubled them again even though we had a couple of years left on the contract.

There may be some good companies out there selling the warranties but my experience was not good and I will never have another one. With the expensive repairs a motorhome can have I considered it a necessity but with the fifth wheel not so much. We only had a couple of minor things done under the 2 year Excel warranty.

I am considering a Good Sam Extended Warranty for $1750 for a year. I am reading the contract and they indicate you must maintain the coach. I will be calling them on that, which company does inspections that they authorize? The chassis is covered by Ford, so you take it to an authorized ford shop to do the maintenance checkups.

I know that Good Sam is a "brokerage firm" and has various insurance companies. Just curious on what others have experienced. Our coach is a 2012 Winnebago Adventurer 32H model.

I bought the Good Sam Extended Service (it is not an actual "warranty") policy. I checked it and several others and opted to get the GS one. They're all roughly the same with some nuances here and there.

As an insurance adjuster by trade myself, if a problem should arise and they try to balk at covering it, they won't be able to pull the wool over my eyes.

As with all insurance policies, read them and familiarize yourselves with them. Knowledge is power!

In five years with 2.5 of them full-timing I have had repairs, adjustments and voluntary mechanical upgrades made and never sent anywhere near the recurring cost of an extended "repair" plan. So consider myself "self insured"

I'm with you chief. My friend who has a 2008 42' MoHo has an extended warranty that he is TICKLED with. He has a Norcold 1200 that has had 5....yes 5, cooling units! Washer has broke down twice and much more. That right there paid for his contract. This ol' boy don't know a screwdriver from a pair of pliers. His wife made me take him over to Harbor Freight to get a $50 set of tools so he can fix things like me! He actually didn't have a screwdriver, pliers or a hammer. Righty tighty -lefty loosy doesn't work for him. Just can't get it. Anyway the boy sure plays great golf though. Good Karaoke singer too! Everyone has their thang! rockin'

Same here Bill. With all the money I didn't spend on extended warranties, I have a lot of money to spend on needed repairs. Plus money not spend doesn't expire.
