External Fridge Vent

So I came back from a weekend having left my RV operational, I found a brown stain running over the vents.
What is happening?
Any ideas?

Need some experienced feedback as to what I should investigate.

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the flame to be sure it's adjusted with mostly blue flame, very little yellow?

Check the flame??

Sorry to seem so incompetent.

I will see if I can find something like an access to a flame.

Well, I did learn how to check for a flame; But I am not using a gas flame; on electric instead.

Is the refer still cooling?
If not I'm betting you lost the ammonia and avoided a fire.

Feedback is helpful

Yes, the fridge is cooling; freezer items are solid; fridge is at the intended temps. So things are operational, yes.

When I open up the vent panel, I am not seeing any indications of stuff inside the unit.

I did look at the Norcold manual, and it only speaks to solutions for the gas operation.

A picture of the inside of the compartment could be a help too.

If everything is running OK refer wise.....that's a good thing. And when you opened it the cover you didn't see anything unusual...again good sign. Now for some probing questions. Did it rain while you were camping? Where you parked by a tree of some sort? A metal building? Did the park have lawn irrigation? I looked at the pic blown up and it doesn't look like it's coming from inside the rear of the refer, based on the info you gave us. Just some thought starters. rockin'

PS......do you believe in ghosts????

Does it come back after washing? If there's no stain on the inside then its external. .Wash it off and happy camping?

inside is dry;

Checked that out also; nothing out of the ordinary.

If that pic would be helpful; that will have to wait until tomorrow; it is already dark out; it is late.

When I replied, you hadn't added the photo. If you had the reefer operating while gone, that could be just dust that was sucked onto the door vents. That is the intake, the exhaust would be on the roof or at least the top of the wall. If it's still cooling, it's not a rupture of the absorption coils. Do you smell ammonia?

I'm thinking , dust collected on the outside vent , and got washed down when the fridge went into defrost mode, and water came out the drain.
OR, ice build up on the cooling fins picked up some rust and washed it out during the defrost cycle.

JMHO: Clean everything off , leave the fridge running , and check daily for re-occurrence of the issue.

Edit: Also check with your neighbors to see if it was particularly dusty while you were away.
