Factory pin box for 37SDF?
Hello all!
We pulled the trigger on a 2015 37SDF and got it home safely yesterday.
While inspecting it, I noticed witness marks on the factory pin box mount. The pin box had been changed and I need to know what was on it from the factory. The original box was mounted, using eight bolts total. The box on it now, only has four bolts total. I know that isn't right and would like to make it right.
Here's what I have:
As you can see, it's not what belongs there. The original owner said that this is how it was, when he bought it from RV Sales NM. He also stated that he's towed it 20,000 miles like this...

I would call Curtis at Excel Service Center, he will be able to give you the correct information. My Demco has six bolts holding it.

I called and left a message for him to call me back this morning. Mondays are hectic around there.. The Demco in our 33RKE also has six bolts per side.. I would hope that RV Sales NM wouldn't have pulled a stunt like this, but you never know..

Trailer's GVWR is 20,000lbs, though I seriously doubt it'll ever get that loaded down. Empty weight is 15,350.

I spoke with Curtis this evening and was told that Demco was making pin boxes for Excel. He also said it's not a Lippert 1621.
I'm back to square 1, unless I can get another 37SDF owner to get me the model number from their factory installed pin box.
I'm going to try moving this pin box into position and drilling the holes to line up with the factory side plates.

How about calling Demco and see what pin boxes they sold Excel? The only other person would be "excelrvguy" if he is on the site anymore.

I have a very high regard for RVSales and they would never do a switch-out like this.
You are probably not a Face Book person, but FB’s Group “ Excel RV Owners” will have the answer for you.
Regards,
Don

When hooked up to truck is the hitch head really that much titled backwards as depicted in photo?
King Pin/pin box appears to be slanted UP
My Demco Glide on my 5th wheel is slanted downward and when hitched it all sits level....hitch/king pin etc
Don't see how you can reposition that Demco Pin Box and install more bolts???
Did Curtis/Excel say when Demco was making pin boxes or that your 2015 came with a Demco

Curtis said that is the pin box that belongs on it and Kevin from Demco confirmed it. The nose-high tilt is really what it looks like hitched up. After verifying info with Curtis and Kevin, I'm thinking that the holes will line up properly when I get the box where it's actually supposed to be.

Wonder what pin box WAS on it originally.
Demco Glide Ride were only rated for 19K.......not one to be used on a 20K GVWR 5th wheel
Plus no 8 hole mounting

Kevin from Demco confirmed my pin box model number as being 8250015.
Curtis also confirmed that I have the factory pin box.
"The pinbox supplied to Peterson Industries, the manufacturer of the Excel, was the 8250015. The mounting should be the same as the Fabex 520. The horizontal hole spacing should be 9.5” on center, with one bolt between them at 4.75”, and vertically 2.5” lower. The space between the two brackets on the trailer should be 12.5”."
The only Demco fitment chart I could find, doesn't list my model number, but shows that they did go up to 21,000lbs.
I'll know more, as soon as I can get the bolts out and try to adjust the pin box position. Hopefully soon..
