Bryan,
Thanks for reconsidering this matter. We dry camp something like six months per year and sometimes need to add water from six gallon jerry cans. No fill door would be a real problem for us.

Would putting the fill-hole in the utility center be too low for it to work properly? I haven't used the fill hole on our 33RSE RT yet, but one of our favorite campgrounds has limited water access such that adding additional water means pouring in 5-7 gallons at a time. The optional external 12 volt pump idea is always an option if the pump can run dry without damage since it would take many fills to completely fill-up the tank. In fact we hand filled 35 gallons into a filler tube once and it took a couple hours of back and forth fun from the hand pump in the ground to the coach!

Can't believe there are so many folks in here that boondock! Anyhow....Dave, contrary to many beliefs, most (not all) modern day 12V water pumps can run dry without damaging itself. Read the fine print on the box. I'm the kinda guy who does want to put it to the test! rockin'

Leave it to me to have the "one" that says "Never" let it run dry! I think that is because it is a Harbor Freight bargain!

Ha ha! Now you campin! Rather than staying in a mobile hotel room.
What's that funny smell? It's fresh air! Not chlorine at the pool.
I'll stop now. Fish in a barrel.

You would almost think PI could use some left over gel coat material and attach it to the door with a hole for the key. I know it would not take into consideration the border around the fill door but at least the major portion of the door would be gel coat so they could paint it.

The expense of making a mini service door of the caliber of the bigger utility door would be a factor, but it would look much nicer than the cheesy normal plastic filler doors we see here and on entry level S.O.B. coaches. I have a painted coach and a plastic filler door and so far the paint seems to be sticking, the first places to go are paint on the caulking of course.

Later, I thought a person could use a bug sprayer tool that hooks up to the garden hose. Gotta be someone real smart that has a simple solution. rockin'

I asked this question on the boondocking area. The response: Fix the sanitizing solution as you would and use the winterizing value & tube to pull the sanitizing solution in. We can fill our freshwater tank using the winterizing technique. Just open the "diverter" value to the freshwater tank and pull the solution in. I have no idea what one would do if they don't have that "diverter" value to send water to the freshwater tank from the city water connection.
As for putting a connecting in a different location to allow direct filling of the freshwater tank, be careful if the decision it to connected with a flexible hose. One of our previous travel trailers had a flex hose from the fill door to the freshwater tank. You had to be real careful not to get an air bubble in that tube. When you did, all the water ran back out the fill door. We were fortunate enough to be able to reach that hose via a storage area. Whenever it got a bubble, I just reached in and moved the hose around. Wasn't fun in cold weather, though!

Thanks for the idea.
While you could use the diverter tube to fill the tank, it's a work-around to be sure, requiring special plumbing/fittings and care. And probably slower than pouring unpressurized water into the filler tube.

We boondock in our class A for three monthe every Winter and this is how we do it... Bought the 45 gallon bladder from C World and rigged up an extra Shurflo pump that I had and run a lead from batteries to pump... presto, now I can force the water into my tank with my hose. Works great!!

I got fittings to connect the outside shower to the city fill. I then use the antifreee setting to pump water from a jug into the lines.Opening the outside shower sends the water into the tank.

We have 2006 33RSO. We filler cap on out side, but I think that I can pump with 12 volt pump in camper. thru winterizing hose and send water to fresh water tank.
