Gray tank neck crack (is patching possible?)

Am stuck in Apache Junction after a cracked gray water tank replacement went awry. Unbelievably, they dropped the new tank on a cement floor while carrying it to the rig, causing a small separation (about an inch wide) right at the neck.

The experienced RV tech insists that there’s no reliable way to repair it, meaning I’ll have to wait 7-10 days for another tank.

I’ve read some prior posts from those who have successfully patched cracks. Is mine located at too vulnerable a place subject to high stress?

A number of folks mention Plasti-Mend for ABS tanks, and it seems to have good reviews. I'm assuming this black colored tank is ABS.

Thanks,
David

Some folks have had success repairing/plastic welding rv tanks. There are plenty of rv shops in Mesa. I would ask around.

If you're paying for a repair, are you willing to cheap out and have a brand new tank patched?

Well, it may beat spending an extra 10 days in Apache Junction, plus the RV facility here hasn't heard back from the tank manufacturer in 24 hours. Not looking good.

David2,

You didn't mention what kind of rig you have and your profile doesn't show it. If it's an Excel what year and model? Number on tank would be good too. I know someone that has a new grey tank for an older Excel. Just sayin'. rockin'

Sorry.....the tank I know of won't fit. I recommend you put your rig info in your sig to avoid confusion in the future. Good luck on your tank deal. We tried! rockin'
