Instruction for removal of hideabed

Hello
We are preparing for our 2014 escape from the Texas heat. We seldom entertain inside our unit and need additional space. We want to remove the hide-a-bed couch for these reasons. Would appreciate any directions for taking the couch apart. This is a queen size pull out hide-a-bed, not one of the flip over styles with recliners built in. Thanks for your help. Jackie

I removed a window in my '07 to get the impossibly narrow sofa out and the new one in. My new inconveniently narrow sleeper will be disassembled and removed through the door when I replace it with a window seat in the coming weeks.

FYI - PI skimps a little on the carpet under their sofas sometimes. It may need to need to be patched if you replace your sofa with a recliner or something.

We took our out easily. Simply remove the 4 brackets that hold the unit to the floor. Our carpet was all there. Then we had to remove the back of the couch by removing the about 8-10 screws from the couch frame. Tie the sleep sofa mechanism from opening while man handling out the door. Otherwise that can open and be very dangerous if you get hit from it!!! Still takes a little jogging around as the newer Excels have Lippert door witch are more narrow than the older entry doors. Take your time and have some help and it'll come out. HTHs, rockin'

In my old Alfa I took the bed out and framed in the area under the couch so I still had the couch and storage also. A few 2x4s, some 3/4"plywood and wood screws was the material list. Haven't needed the space in the Excel.

We have the rear kitchen model with L-shaped couch. I called to Peterson Industries and was able to speak with the wonderful lady who built and installed it. She talked me through taking it apart. She was spot in; what a memory and a great help. We replaced it with a leather futon we found at Costco last summer. We can now put the sofa in three locations in the living room. Life is good.

Thanks to all. After visiting with Ralph at Smith Center, were able to complete the task efficiently with no guessing. Anyone interested in a hide-a-bed in a dozen or so pieces and a plastic container of screws? Have a great Summer.
