Inverter problems

Hi everybody,
we are down in FL. living the dream.snow and ice up home. my problem is my Xantrex inverter XM 1000 is giving me a E05 fault code, and a overload shutdown, and i am on shore power. i have talked to some people, and read some postings on this problem, and done all the tests that i can think to do.
i have come to the conclusion that the inverter is bad. we have a 2015 34IKE.
so that would make the inverter 4 yrs old. we really only use the inverter when we are on the road. we always try to find shore power. is this the normal length
of time a inverter will last?
thanks, need all the help i can get.

If you neeed to replace the inverter a good thought is get one that has the auto change over for shore power to inverter, I have forgot the plug change over a few times I now have an auto change over relay

Is anything running on the inverter when on shore power ?

The XM1000 model is a MSW 600 constant watt unit.
Good for TV's and phone chargers.

You could easily go with a ProWatt 1000 SW inverter in its place. Cleaner power and a bit more output.
Mine has been trouble free for 6 years now.

The only thing running off the inverter is the ref, nothing running on the inverter when the RV is on shore power

i always thought the XM1000 was a auto transfer when you plug into shorepower.
the only things on the inverter is the frig. and the TV. do you feel that 6 yrs is a long time to be maint. free on the inverter?
thanks for all the help

It depend on the inverter location. Is it running cool enough and not in with flooded acid batteries ? Battery acid fumes can eat the circuit boards.

If the fridge is large, the startup load may be over the surge limits of the inverter. Over time that may stress it.

Dust and dirt can block the cooling fan causing it to overheat. A larger inverter may run cooler, needing less fan running time.

I run a ProWatt 2000 for 10 years now, in my boat, with a 120 volt fridge, TV and occasional microwave use.
The ProWatt doesn't have a auto transfer switch but I just let it run the items listed, full time, and let the solar, alternator or generator keep the batteries up.
