Is there a filter before the water pump?

Does anyone know if Excel installed a filter or strainer just before the water pump? I have a 2004 35MKO that is delivering low water volume from all faucets but the pump sounds normal. I see a device on the inlet side of the pump that looks like it could be a strainer but have not removed it yet. I hesitate due to the "it's like peeling an onion" syndrome I seem to have on many projects and thought I would ask the forum...

Anyone tackled this yet?

Jim, yes that is a small strainer and it can be cleaned. Just unscrew the clear cap and the strainer can be cleaned. I usually take the strainer off then take it apart as it is easier on our rig. Mine has always been spotless and I contribute that to the fact that I change the water in the FW tank every month.

Just FYI...when this strainer starts to get plugged, the pump motor usually runs faster and flow rate is decreased. As it gets more plugged it runs faster and faster and the flow gets down to almost nothing. Stopped up, the motor sounds likes the FW tank is empty. rockin'

OK that is great news and you have described my symptoms perfectly. I will pull it off tomorrow. My rig has been sitting for a while so I bet the strainer has some issues.

Thanks for the good words!

Jim
