New to forum and excel

My name is David and my wife's name is Terry and we are selling our home and going to full time rv. We are looking at an excel D37SDF. This is the one with door in the slide. We are concerned that the RV parks are not set up with sites for the door to be in this location and might have trouble. Does anyone own one and have you had any problems parking in RV site. Also what kind of tow vehicle are you using. We have horses so will be going between Colorado in summer and fall and Arizona in winter and spring. We do a lot of trail riding with our horses. We hope to be going to other states to ride our horses.

In typical internet forum style, I'll start by saying "I don't know anything about that particular model, but......"
Our Wild Cargo has 2 doors, one in the usual place, and another in the garage. We've never had an issue using either door.

The 37SDF is unique, and different from all other 5ers, because the entrance door is in the curb side slide. So extra room is required between that slide and obsticals, such as trees, bushes and other rigs.

This would not be a problem for most (maybe 95%??) of the sites we have been in. However, sites are narrower in some parts of the country.

First of all we welcome you to the forum!!!

We've been thru one the other week at the plant. You are right the steps would be an issue in some parks where site width is an issue. I'm guessin' the width of the rig is about 15ft. with slides open and steps down. It wouldn't work park at my workamp job during the summer. The steps would be our planter box. One other thing to think about is the front slides on both sides are directly over the bay doors which could be a head knocker until you got used to it. That said, there are many great benefits to this beautiful, unique and spacious rig. A happy hour rig for sure!

My best guess would be the step concern in some parks would be about 85% with no problem. Mainly depends on the style of parks you stay at. I could make it work in a Walmart!!! rockin'

They also make that model with a standard entry door. Based on our experience some of the parks we have used would be a little dicey for the slide entry. Most of our travels are to Colorado and Wyoming with a little of Minnesota thrown in.

I saw this set-up at the factory a couple of months ago and it would be a challenge for a lot of rv parks for states in your area. I had envisioned it as a unit that would basically set in the same spot all of the time. It would add about 5-6 ft of steel and maneuvering space to a unit that is already about 14 ft. wide. Jm2cw.

B & W makes a good set up for a combination goose neck/rv hitch.

I would think that a 1 ton dually would handle it ok but you would need to check the numbers.

Welcome to the forum.
