Norcold class action suit.

As most know, my Norcold Refer caught fire. I hear they have settled the class action law suit. I never looked into joining the lawsuit since I did not think the newer models were included, suffered no injuries, and the insurance company covered the repair cost. I was wrong about the newer refrigerators not being part of the suit. Below is a partial list of model numbers included, they were built up to 2013. Mine was the N1095.

Tom has posted information on a Halogen fire Extinquisher in another thread. I have also read it may be beneficial to install a 12v fan inside the upper vent to draw out some of the heat?

Thanks Mike......we've had three N1095 and none have had any issues with them. Now watch, it will crap out! Ha. Your insurance company has probably filed subrogation on your loss.

BTW....all the Excels have the 12V the upper vent fan run thru a thermistor. I believe the N1200 series have 2 of the fans. Just FYI.

On a warm day you can here it humming if the rig is quiet.

Yep, I have the halogen FE still installed. Check the gauge and dust it off from time to time. Nice piece of mind.

We had the 12 cf model in our 05 motor home, which we had to replace after 5 years. I think it had 2 recalls while we owned it, if I remember correctly. Anyway, I got the post card on joining the suit and did, mainly because of the money we spent replacing it with a Samsung residential. I have no idea what the result will be, if any, since we sold the motorhome in 2012. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is the best way to look it, I guess, but I'm certainly not counting on anything.

Yeah, Norcold has had a rough go of it. Due to all the litigation, they were forced to lay off many of their engineers. Good news is, they all got hired by Samsung Smart Phone division....
