Thanks... Wayne
Wayne,

The hitch is easily another topic all on its own, along with ratios, axles, weight, truck, SW/DRW... I had nearly a brand new B&W Companion that is a wonderful hitch and visully provides the safety looky loo that was mentioned previously, easily removeable to make for a flat bed and has a gooseneck hitch kit as well. Companion 5th Fifth Wheel Hitch | B & W Trailer Hitches

The hitch we now use which is an OEM hitch Ford recommends. The Puck Hitch is also removeable if you wanted to Gooseneck something. If the Ford has the trailering 5th/Gooseneck package, holes are already cut and a plug in the bed. Don't let the smallness steer you the other way. 6k+ on the hitch and it has worked wonderfully. Only available for Ford. There is another OEM Companion Puck for Ram - probably no use to you.
Companion OEM - 5th Wheel Hitch - Fits Ford Puck System | B & W Trailer Hitches

I was able to sell/trade my First Companion for the Puck and get a great deal.

I have to say, that the Tow/Haul mode on the Ford + Cruise was great on our last 4k journey to Smith Center. In fact, I wish I had a recliner and a trunk monkey, then the drive would have been better.

Good luck on your jouney to get the right tools for your future life in an Excel!
