refrigerator question
Hello!
Ok question on frost in our refridgerator, wife and I have a Norcold model 1210 fridge. This is our 3rd!! Our last one died at PI in Kansas while getting our slides fixed in May (atleast it died in the right place right ) So we get a new one there (man there expensive, out of warranty by 2 months) and now we have a bunch of frost in the freezer. I'm just wondering if this is really normal. We do have hot and humid summers here in NewEngland. I'm just paranoid now with the Norcold, 3 in 5 years!
Take care,
Eddie

That's some pretty bad luck with fridges! Our Norcold has worked well for nearly 4 years now but in humid areas we do get a lot of frost build up in the freezers. I defrost one side (the unit is a 4 door) at a time but removing the contents and using a hair dryer very carefully to loosen the ice while I break it loose with my hands and scoop out the ice and water that results. The manual says not to do it this way but it works well so long as you don't get things too hot.
I then let the defrosted side re-freeze over night before defrosting the other side.
Good Luck,
Rick

Normal for us to get frost in there. We're defrosting about once a month. David

Frost in the freezer... Air enters every time you open the door. What is the HUMIDITY? (More than 30 percent usually) it hits the zero degree panels in the rear of the freezer and the water condenses out.. And instantly freezes.
100% normal

I have frost in my freezers and leave it alone until shutting down the fridge.
7 years never posed a problem.
Fulled time for 6 months in hot summer months still had frost and plenty of ice its the nature of the 1200.
Frost on fins in box will defrost every 40 hours still no problem.

I can see one refrigerator going TU, but two? If the one you currently have also goes TU, you might want to have your entire system checked to see what's causing the problem...it's certainly not normal for refrigerators to go TU so quickly, especially to the point that they need replacing.

Hmmm....TU....even I get that one!
We've had the typical S5 code on occassion on both refers.....but other then that they work OK. Defrost every 4-6 weeks. Oh yeah, I had to do the shimming of the lower door hinge on our current rig. I've helped several folks with these 2 issues as Park Host in our summer park. Very common issues. rockin'
