Has anybody measured the 12 volts going to their fan when it failed?

Definitely not a under/over voltage problem here. It appears the bearings fail first (start squeaking) and the binding causes the motor windings to burn out.
Someone else stated the armature is rough, I suppose that could also cause the problem.

The fan on my Shurflo Comfort Air fan is not working. The lid opens and closes with the remote, but no fan function.
Should I contact Shurflo for troubleshooting? Is the most likely culprit the motor or control board?
Unfortunately, this sounds like a common problem.
I've had Fantastic Vent Fans in my previous RV's. No failures. I replaced the stock kitchen and bath vents in my Excel Winslow with Fantastic Vent Fans. Silly me, I should have replaced the OEM Shurflo when I replaced the others.

We had fantatstic fans in our previous rigs, replaced a motor one time after about 6 years. This Shurflo lasted about 3 weeks after we picked up the rig. First a squeak, called Shurflo and they suggested that if I ran it the other direction for a few hours, that sometimes took care of the problem.
We got about another week out of it, and then it quit entirely. SC is going to drop a new one in when we stop by in a few weeks. And when the warranty is up on this stupid fan-and it quits again--we'll be putting in a Fantastic fan.

The appeal of the Shurflo was its ability to run it in reverse with the dome down to circulate air. Much like a ceiling fan.
I installed a Fantastic Vent B2000 in the kitchen to work with the existing wall switches.

I only have literature on the rear fan and it is a Shurflo. Are the ones over the stove and shower also Shurflo? They aren't labeled.

No, the stove and shower vents are probably Ventline. I replaced them with Fantastic Vent fans (shower model 5000RBT and kitchen model B2000).
The aft vent is the Shurflo with remote control.

Shurflo comfort air silver, gold & platinum problems.
I purchased two Shurflo comfort air gold vent fan units and have had a string of problems. This information applies to the silver, gold and platinum units because they all use the same motor.
I purchased these because I liked the vent closed operation feature. However, when new both motors squeaked at all speeds in both directions. I used them for a year like this until both circuit boards burned out and the units would no longer operate. Called Shurflo and they sent me two new motors and boards without asking for the defective parts to be returned. The two new motors also squeaked. So I called Shurflo again and the rep I spoke to explained that the motors were made in China and used very low quality bearings. So I asked them to send me another brand of motor but was told this was the only motor they use. They said they would replace the motors again but this time I had to send the squeaking motors back at my expense. They also promised to test the next two motors to make sure they didn't squeak. I received the new motors and installed them to find they didn't squeak but I noticed that both motors were somewhat difficult to turn by hand. After a few days one motor began to squeak slightly and after about a week the non-squeaking motor blew the circuit board again. So that's where I stand now on a Sunday morning. I'll call Shurflo tomorrow and explain what happened.
I've read posts going back to 2009 and 2010 where people were having similar problems with the Shurflo motors. Conclusion: Don't buy Shurflo vent fans! They use inferior quality motors. The customer service is very good though so if you are the type of person who likes to be constantly working on your vent fan and spending money to send back defective parts they will keep sending you low quality replacement parts.

I saw several 2014 Excel 5th wheels last week. They all had MaxxAir MaxxFans, not Shurflo. Maybe Peterson decided not to install Shurflo fans due to the numerous reported problems.
My Shurflo is currently broken and at the dealership for repair. If it fails again, I'll probably replace it with a FanTastic Vent fan or MaxxFan.

I also have had multiple problems with the Sureflo vent fan motors. The 3rd motor they sent me has been working ok for over a year and a half. I removed my vent rain cover to improve the air flow because I thought it may be putting too much back pressure on the fan/motor assembly. I never use it as a ceiling fan for fear of failure
Best of luck to you.

My Shurflo fan started making the squeaking low speed noise. So I called Shurflo and ask to talk to a techie. I explained my issue and said I knew that this is an ongoing concern. My question was if I replace the motor, will the new one have the same issue or has it updated/fixed? The answer was....I can send you a new motor. Asked again and got the same answer! Obviously I knew what we were dealing with. I had him send the new motor and installed it. Within short order.....the same noise. I took apart the old Chinese motor......what a chintzy substandard setup. Looking at it, my best guess it has a brush to commentator finish/material issue causing the squeaking. IMHO rockin'

As I mentioned in a previous post, our Shurflo stopped working about 3 weeks after taking delivery of the rig. The good news was that we stopped by SC and it was replaced. Ralph told us that Shurflo was no longer making the fans. He said they would have to replace it with a Fantastic Fan. I was devastated with the news
The Fantastic Fan works wonderfully, and we are feeling fantastic!

When my Shurflo fan in the bedroom shattered into 3 pieces (while running) I called Ralph and he sent me a new Fantastic Fan which. Installed and we are extremely happy with it. Now I am patiently waiting Thor the Shurflo fan in the living area to quit and Ralph can send me a new Fantastic Fan to replaced it. The Shurflo squeaks up a wonderful song and will soon seize.

Just an update. Now the one fan that is still working doesn't stay turning at a constant speed. If I set it for about 1/4 speed it will eventually slow down to the point where it is hardly spinning. It speeds back up when I change the speed setting. I'm afraid to run it at high speed for fear of blowing yet another circuit board.
What a ridiculous product this is. I don't care how good the customer service is, it doesn't make up for the fact that the product is absolutely horrible. I think Shurflo is counting on the fact that RV users often aren't using their rigs extensively so the problems go unnoticed and unreported for long periods of time, then the warranty expires and people are stuck with this junk.
I'll never buy another Shurflo or Pentair product for any application.
By the way, my original post was on a Saturday, not Sunday...Just in case anyone is keeping score.
