State Excel Clubs Future

What are State Excel clubs going to do with Peterson going out of business?? Keep the same name , a new name, dissolve, a new name and inviting other brands of RVs ??. The Texas Club is considering changing the name, name to be determined and inviting other RVs to join, we have been struggling with a small group and see this as a way of the growing the numbers. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

With the parent company out of business and no new inventory being produced, the clubs will expire with no new members or only new members with used units.

The only way for the state clubs to survive is to change their bylaws or disband and reorganize with new bylaws.

Same thing happened to Sunnybrook a few years ago.

It would be nice if all the clubs would post here so that we know what each club decides. Kansas will be discussing this at our campout May 5th - 7th.

Some states like NM have a high volume of Excel's because if dealerships. I think our NM club will be around for a long time. No reason to change anything si soon. The free market will drive each clubs activity level.

Chief, if no more Excels are being made, even a big club like NM will eventually die of attrition.

Not shutting down the clubs.

Just allowing them to add new members that do not own Excels.

You snooze, you lose.....

Chief, I totally agree with you. We love our Excels even if they are not
being made anymore.
There are Studebaker clubs, model T clubs, Plymouth clubs, Oldsmobile clubs, etc. Why can't there be a Excel club?

all "clubs" of any type are having tough time retaining/gaining membership. One of our local service clubs had to close, they sponsored the Christmas Parade, just because of declining membership. Young folks have lots of children school activities anymore, older folks just don't want to be tied down (there are exceptions) etc etc. We haven't attended our MO Excel club for years just because the timing always seems to conflict with our travel plans. They meet twice a year. And so it goes.

The Texas Excell club had there what do we do meeting last week end and we decided to change the name to (Texas Rovers RV club), open up to other RVs but 1st invite previous Excel owners that were in our club and moved on to other RVs to rejoin the club. Rewrite the bylays and have contest to design a new logo for the club. Every one felt if we do not open up the club and keep it Excel only the club will die.

The Kansas Club had their meeting last night and we decided basicly the same thing. We are going to do what some of the other states are and take ideas. Most likely we are going to open it up to other people also. Not sure about letting anyone join. (Motorhomes, tent campers, etc) I do like the idea about past members join. Our bylaws will have to be changed also. We'll make a final decision in Sept.
