The reason I asked is because 4 years ago I bought EMS-PT50C
and it has failed twice. I sent it in for repairs once and now it quit again. Is that the nature of them?

I'm in year 6 fulltiming with the PT50C without issues, but I don't fear a unit failure, and I never lock it up. PI is has the best products and a lifetime warranty. All others are 1-year warranty. Paying once is great!

If you have room in electrcal cabinet, get a hard wired model. Neverhave to worry about leaving it or theft.

I also have the portable unit. I lock it sometimes depending on where we are or if we will be away from the coach overnight. We sometimes leave the coach at the cg when visiting our kids in Atlanta and stay with the kids. Then I lock it.

The only thing I have ever had stolen was a cooler full of beer this spring on Pensacola Beach. Suspect it was partying kids stalking the beach.

For a hard wired installation, you can also use a "Whole House" unit like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Eaton-109420-...rge+protectors

Note that it only provides surge & spike protection. It does not tell if you have improperly wired pedestal outlets or constant over or under voltage.

Have a Progressive Industries also. Never had a problem with it on the pole. A couple of times I have kept it in the compartment and used the extension out to the power post when we wouldn't be around a lot or I didn't feel right about the neighbors or where I was parked. You know what they say, if you have a bad feeling don't ignore it.

I think I must be confusing all, I am not worried about theft, I just want something that doesn't need repaired so often even tho it was under warranty I had to pay postage both ways ! I would like someone who has a different brand to tell me about theirs.

Thank you

Hardwire for me. I know that at some point I would forget to stow the portable when departing...

Like the PI lifetime warranty, haven't seen one better. I've seen several posts where PI just sent a replacement board for DYI replacement.
