Too Much Sun? Shades for Door(s)

We are blessed to have a new Rear Kitchen Excel and love having two entrances, but that's double the light or sun glare that comes through. So I made shades that attach to the inside window frame and they block out Mr Sunshine when he shares too much of a good thing.

Since our 5er is named after a species of dragonfly (Didymop) it was only appropriate for us to use dragonfly-motif fabric. The only thing besides fabric that you'll need is 1/2" wide black non-stick Velcro; I used Gorilla Glue to glue the hard-loop side of the Velcro to the window frame. I sewed the soft-loop section to the top and sides of the fabric. Measure the inside of the window to determine how much fabric you'll need and remember that you'll be cutting two of them since you will sew them together (right side together) and then turn right-side out. Using the Velcro makes it very easy to insert or remove either of the shades.

Good luck...and if you have any questions about this....just ask.

Those are awesome! I can't sew a straight line so I'm envious!

Beth, your window shades look great!

On my previous camper I applied window tint to the entry door. I used the darkest limo tint I could find. It did a nice job. Really cut down on the incoming light.

I believe the real reason she did these curtains is to keep people like me from peekin' in!

My wife took a decorative pillow cover (sham) and snipped the 2 corners off. She put an expandable curtain rod through the holes and put it between the door's interior trim.

Easy on and easy off with no sewing.
