Touchy Lights

I had 2 of my halogen ceiling lights that quit working but as soon I tried to remove the lens they started working. Now I just rap 'em with my fist to get them going again. Hard to figure out what's wrong when the fix is so simple. The problem is it is always temporary, a few days at best.

Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

My guess is that you have bad contacts in the socket. Try taking out the bulbs cleaning the contacts and see if this helps. If you have a multimeter check to see if there is voltage (you should jiggle the fixture).

I have that happen on almost all of the halogen lights when the bulb is beginning to fail. I have removed the cover and watched the filament arc as I thumped/tapped the light housing with my finger.

Sometime you can lightly tap on the lamp lens and have the light comes on and last almost a week longer!

Anyhow......replacement of the bulb fixes it. rockin'
