I just read the discussion on trailer length in the recent thread about what dealer discount to expect.
Since we're presently in the market for a new 5th wheel, can somebody please tell me how the lengths of Excels are determined?
For example, the various "36" models (such as 36MKE, 36MKO, 36MKE) are listed as being 37'6" long.
Does that mean that if one were to measure the total length of these standard "36" models (without options, such as the Hydralift motorcycle carrier for example, that would add to the overall length) that they would be 37'6" from end to end? Does this measured length include the rear roof ladder?
The length is critical to my purchase decision, since I'll want to be able to store my trailer and drift boat together in our inside storage unit that's 50' long.
Thanks much.

John,
We measure the actual length from the rear bumper to the very front of the fiberglass nose point. The ladder is not included, and in some cases there are a few inches of pinbox sticking out in front of that. We have never counted the pinbox because of the many options of pinbox length that we have offered over the years. Now that we are down to just two pinboxes, the standard, and the optional Glide Ride pinbox, perhaps we will take the pinbox into consideration in the future.
Hope this helps.

That "ExcelRVGuy" is nice to have around! John, I wish RV manufacturers would list the square footage of their 5th wheels along with the length. RV towables are limited to 400 sq ft (in the set-up mode with slides extended), regardless of length or number of slides. Anything larger starts coming under the HUD bureaucracy -- we don't want to go there
