Trav'ler Dish Owners--Check Your Roof!
While installing the sensor for my new weather station ( http://www.irv2.com/forums/f116/pers...ion-90667.html), I noticed two small divots in the fiberglass roof where the Trav'ler Satellite Dish retracts. I had Jan lower the dish while I was on the roof, and noticed that the two ears in the bracket was resting on the roof. While traveling, the bracket would vibrate slightly and was grinding into the roof.
The plastic plates I purchased to install the weather station sensor came in a 4-pack. So I velcro'ed one of them under the end of the Dish arm to raise it from the roof. Now there's a good quarter inch clearance between the roof and the bottom of the bracket.

Glenn,
Thanks for the heads up.....we should pass this info on to PI (Curtis) so they can put some kind of protection for the roof material.

Doesn't Winegard make a plate to put under it, for just this reason? Think I saw that someplace, but don't remember where.

But when the dish is completely stowed, the entire arm sits flat on the roof, and the two ears on the bracket make direct contact. To fix the problem, the entire arm needs to be raised up from the roof. The plastic plate I used is about a quarter inch thick. I'm sure any material would work, as long as it's thick enough to raise the arm enough to keep the bracket from sitting directly on the roof.

Glenn...as you mentioned the high winds earlier and was on the roof, did you notice anything about the dish mounting and caulking around it base/mount. Wonder if the fiberglass used on the roof of the newer units is the same as on the 'older' Excel Limited

Workshop, I've never been up on one of the previous model roofs. As far as I knew, the only difference was roof line itself.
