We will be puchasing a 2007 36TKE for fultime use and would like to know whether it is better to have a washer/dryer or save the storage space. If you recommend a washer/dryer is a combo unit preferable to the seperate units?

Poncet,
Although storage space is nice to have, you will most likely run out of tow vehicle before you have all the available storage space used. If you are going to live in it, opt for the separate washer and dryer. At the time we got ours PI was using the Whirlpool separates and they work extremely well. You will not be sorry you spent the money, trust me,

Poncet,
Although I hate spending time at the laundromat, we opted to have more storage space and didn't get the washer/dryer. We bought a 5 sliding drawer unit from Lowe's that fit perfectly in the space and stores alot of the food items that there would not have been room for in the slide out pantry. Giving up the washer/dryer only means spending 2 hours once a week at the laundromat and there is one just a stones throw from our camper at the campground. We are happy that we didn't get the W/D. Good Luck to you in your decision. BTW, the washer dryer prep is there so if you start out without one, you can always install one at a later date.

Poncet,
We originally planned on W&D as FTers and had it set up for it when we had it built. We talked with MANY folks who FT and got about a 50/50 mix of opinion. We decided to "try doing without it" for a while and see how that worked for us. Another concern with us was the weight factor as we are "pushing the limit". We try to stay in nicer parks as a rule and have found most have real nice laundries. We wouldn't consider having one now. Works for us.
Quick story; we have friends who couldn't live without their W/D in their rig. When we were at their place for happy hour one afternoon, the rig was just a shaking, vibrating and making some gawd-awful noises. She explained it was just the W/D. Few days later we were in the park laundrymat and there they were doing laundry. When I inquired they said they were doing there "regular" laundry as the W/D in the rig only did small items like underwear and a t-shirt or two, everything else gets done in the laundry! Go figure!! Enough of my stories for now!!

What they need is something like JT's Strong Arm Jack Stabilizer or the Plug It Right Jack Stabilizer. We had the JT's installed, and our fifth wheel isn't going to move when we have the washer & dryer going!

I suppose that *might* be true of some of the all-in-one washer/dryers, but it's certainly not true of the stacked model that Peterson puts in their rigs. Yes, if we have something quite large, like a king-size blanket or bedspread, we're going to have to go to a laundromat and use one of their large machines. But that's true of our full-size washer & dryer we have in our home.

Although I have see what Tom is describing, it is not the case with our coach. It could be the Atwood leveling system which makes the coach extremely stable, but ours does not move at all when the washer is in a spin cycle. Just as Linda says, you can wash and dry nearly as much as a residential washer and dryer. As for the 110V dryers dont work well myth, it's not true either. The whirlpool dryer we have is 110V, but it will dry a full load just about like the dryer in our house. Having said all this, they work well, and are very convenient, we would not consider a coach without them. MTCW

We wouldn't want to do without our stack w/d. Have had a shake on occasion, but when it was unbalanced and with heavy towels. I prefer not to show my dirty laundry, and it is just way to handy to use.

There are two appliances the 'CoPilot' will never be without, once you have them you wonder how the others live!! Built in vacuum and the washer and dryer!! Hanging out in those hot costly laundry's and changing the bag in one of those difficult to store (unless ya don't have a washer/dryer)sweepers isn't fun!!
