I will post this in the Excel forum so maybe it will create a little discussion.

Do any of you have a system to see who is at your door when they knock?

In this weird world I would like to see who is knocking without opening the door!!!

Does Peterson Industries have anything as an option?

Jim

.Thanks Jim -- between you and Bob (Highturn) throwing out the "lure" to our fellow Excel owners and visitors to join in on the discussions, we'll get this forum energized. I'm sure many of the "guests" are Excel owners dropping in for a "look see." I wish they would take the time to join iRV2.com and our forum. iRV2.com has much to offer and, IMHO, is far less confrontational than another popular RV forum.

Now, back to your question, an idea I've been spining aorund is mounting a wireless outdoor camera around the door/awning area with a monitor on the wall next to the door. These units are fairly inexpensive for the lower end models.

I leave the shade up alittle on the window of my slide that faces the door. I can turn on the outside light then look out the window before opening the door.

Paul,

I only have 2 slides which are on the other side.
Sounds like a good idea but won't work for me.

This is the system that I was considering. Camera could be modified by cutting off the license plate frame tabs, leaving the small camera to mount on the side of the fiver. Monitor could be placed anywhere inside.

One easy solution to your question would be to replace the frosted glass in your door with clear glass you can see through. I have seen other people do this. Just put some kind of curtain over the window to close when you don't want others looking in. Replacing the glass is a easy task and shouldn't cost to much.
