A great compliment today

This early evening we had our monthly property owners dinner and of course all the folks that drove by our place all month staring at the new rig, but never stopped to chit chat were full of conversations tonight.

one of the busy bodies came up to me, and said wow i sure do like your new rig.....the paint scheme really stands out, what did it cost about 800k?

i just politely said more than a dollar and less than what you think
and thank you it sure does look good, in fact it makes the whole street look better

i guess i need to have waxed now

Powerboatr, Evidently there aren't any restrictions for parking in your neighberhood; but isn't it rude for someone to ask you how much you paid for it unless they are really close friends or relatives.
You should also give us a first name so we don't have to call you powerboatr or retired Navy. Thanks, John H...

we live in a "resort labled" community
you can have a house, a mobile home, a RV, or any combination of the three.
but the stick or mobile must be at least 750 sq ft and then you can qualify it as your residence and park your rv on your property, most out here that have larger rvs build a rv port type structure with a small 750 sq ft "house" in back and then a real nice covered rv port, and then you can sleep where ever you like so too speak, we have a busy crew of golf carts ( no golf course) and they patrol to nose in on what you may have on your property...simply because they have no life , we like it here becasue you can leave for months and your property stays pretty much as you left it. I pretty much dotn let out how much i spend or dont spend, i figure its between me and the bank, it drives em nuts

sans the grass growing. whats really nice is we are the only residents on our street, so we have lots of birds, squirrles, deer and ducks that vist our yard everyday for snacks

i go by robert

Robert, Thanks for the response. Sounds like a comfortable place to live and hide out. Keep the neighbors guessing and the animals visiting. John H...

Man I wish we could have our's here. We live in one of those communities where we only can have it in our driveway 48 hours or they start raising cain. And we have our share of 'bikers' - retired peopel who ride around on their bikes logging anything they can. Too much time on their hands...

Robert, what did you do in the canoe club? Former spook bubblehead here...

Jack of all aviation trades
aviation structural mechanic, 21 plus on helicopters, loved every minute, been thinking about maybe returning for a bit to impart some forgotten skills.

our "community" has some great by-laws, however the corporate office only enforces them haphazardly, and the "mindingmybusiness" crowd is just as bad, if you don't drink coffee with them every morning at the clubhouse you become a target for the "clan" so to speak.
periodically i get letters reminded me i spend an "unusaly large amount of time in my rv" vice my "stick built house", without to many boring details, my house is my residence vice my rv, and the bylaws do not delinate time spent between the two, I am not alone we have quite a few that spend an unusaly large amount of time in thier rvs, which is ok as long as its not your residence, I have a standard reply letter i send in every time, and it stops it again until a new "mindingmybusiness" person thinks they know everything, instead of stopping by to ask me,
I simply point out in the bylaws that i am correct and to stop picking on a veteran, i used to get irritated but now i fight back with the pen and they always rescind, until a new manager or attorney comes in, you would think they get a passdown or something, the sad fact is it costs tons of $$$ to fight a corporation about by laws and property owners rights, so every little win is a huge victory.
this year they are starting off right and are keeping the lots on my street mowed, so i wont complain
i am the only one on my block, which makes it very nice, plus it gave me tons of ammuntion for stalking charges, which set the place on edge, for fear of a "mindingmybusiness" person getting arrested for stalking, it was priceless. i am not a mean or vindictive person, but i do expect to be not bothered needlesly.

Robert, I too, was an AMH. I have built 2 kit airplanes in the past 18 years. I really enjoyed it. One of those airplanes had folding wings and I had it on a trailer. That would also stir up the neighbors when I brought it home. John H...

If it was an autogyro you could take off in the street. Just like the James Bond movie.

Yes, And that would really tick off the neighbors. It's bad enough when I start up the Harley early in the morning to go somewhere.
