BD solenoid Intellitec BD1 system replace

2002 Damon Intruder, has a bad solenoid for the battery disconnect on an intellitec BD1 system.

RV repair shop says it's a $484 job, NOT counting parts. I can buy the thing on Amazon for $50 or so.

Has anyone ever replaced theirs and how much of a hassle is it?

It sits behind the fuse box under the hood drivers side.

If it is your isolation solenoid, I have replaced mine in an hour. Are you sure that the only thing that needs to be replaced is the solenoid? Sounds like a lot of money for that job.

Buy a golf car solenoid on Ebay for less than $15.00. That's what I used on my Daybreak and it worked grate.

A battery disconnect solenoid is a latching solenoid. Its a bit different then a isolation solenoid.

It is not a continous duty isolation type and probably not the $15 EBay golf car solenoid.

Remove the ground cables from all batteries, chassis and coach, and pull the shore power cord to stop the charging.

Take a ton of pictures and go to it, removing all of the wires and links. Make note of the tightness of the cable connection nuts. Then the 2 mounting bolts and wiggle it out of there.

Carefully reverse what you did, using your pictures to confirm every connection. Before you know it, it's done.

+1....If you can not turn off (or turn on) the coach batteries from the switch located near the entry steps, it is the latching solenoid-or the 5 amp fuse that protects its coil. NOT the $15 golf cart type. I believe they are around $65. Not hard to change.

If it is the disconnect solenoid you should have little trouble getting a new one for $60 and putting it in yourself.

You're right I had isolation solenoid on the brain. Sorry for the bad info.
