The heater valve is usually right at the heater hoses as they enter the plenum that contains the fan, heater core, and A/C evaporator. Manually see if you can close the valve. Not sure if yours is vacuum controlled or operates manually or electrically. Many folks cut the heater hose as it enters the plenum and install a simple ball valve in the hose to shut off heat.

I don't have specific Damon info for you, BUT...

If the valve is operated by vacuum hose please check the hose before you replace the valve. On my last Ford I had a problem where the heat would not shut down fully and I swapped the valve with no change in operation. The problem proved to be a leaking vacuum hose - the portion of the hose that was visible by the valve was good but overall the hose was old, and getting rotten. The final solution was spending a day replacing every vacuum hose in the vehicle.

Now if it's a mechanical operated valve then you have a whole different issue. Just make sure that the mechanical linkage is not binding somewhere (like it is on my 1986 Fleetwood Southwind - built on a Chevrolet P30 chassis). That valve is not opening fully due to a binding flex cable. I'm going to have to replace the cable, but there are higher priority issues first.

And you still might end up replacing the valve.
