This past May 2018 the Iota Engineering brand Automatic Power Transfer Switch ATS unexpectedly "burned up" while the wife and I were visiting our son and his family in Lake Charles, LA. I shared my experiences on the FMCA Forum but realized I needed to also share my tribulations in the Damon owners section of iRV2. I'm very fortunate my small ATS fire didn't grown into something much worse! See attached photos.
The ATS failed due to a loose ground wire on the back side of the buss bar which no-one could have accessed to tighten the connection. This is a common "poor fabrication" problem with 2007 era Iota Engineering ATS which led to several recalls to replace the switch and eventual bankruptcy of Iota Engineering.
Thor (and other manufactures) issued recalls for the Iota ATS for some of its RV models but never issued a recall for Iota ATS installed in Damon motorhomes. So, I had to rely on my extended warranty from XtraRide to pay for most of the cost to replace the switch. Thor recall -->

My learning for Damon Astoria (and perhaps other Damon motorhomes) owners is to inspect your ATS and re-tighten all wire connections that can be accessed. I promise you don't want to experience the "scare" of an electrical fire and the hassle of replacing the ATS.
