Hi from Thebus (the bus) Phoebe (the dog) and Me

hi all from thebusphoebeandme

I am totally new to Rv and motorhoming or any sort of camping.

I bought a Damon Daybreak 27 P round Christmas and I am off on my inaugural trip, with now particular intentions of returning at any set time

I am based in the middle of England in the UK and have currently made it up to Orkney and will sail for Shetland tomorrow

It is VERY windy here and resonably chilly and i have a question about my heating.

I will start another thread with the question so if (hope there are) any answers and someone has a similar problem they will be able to find it on a search

Many thanks
Sue

PS I am doing a journal of my travels with some photos so if you want to see a bit of England and Scotland take a look at

Sue,
Your Daybreak is a very nice rig and has a large following here in the States.

From another UK RVer, we learned that some rigs like yours are driven with dual-fuel engines...LP/Petrol. Is the true for you?

We do not have those here, but with the price of gasoline, it would be great

Best luck in your travels and hope you share all about it.

Yes it has been converted and starts on petrol which is about $11.67 a gallon then changes automatically to LPG which is about $6.67

If you run out, which I shall probalby do in Shetland where there is non then you can just run on petrol.

You can see what I am up to on my journal

Sorry about your cat.

We enjoy your pictures and you blog.

We also hope you enjoy your travels. We have had our motorhome since 2008 and really enjoy it, better than having a summer and normal home. After looking at some of your later pictures, the county side look nice and green. Do people rent motor homes for touring around the UK? I see the steering is on the left like in the USA. Is that a problem?

If you need more room to travel in, there is always the North America.

Enjoy you adventure.

Steve

Welcome! Very neat to see what RVing (Caravaning) is like on your side of the pond! I'm also curious about what (if any) challenges left side driver seats are for you.

It is more difficult, but fortunatley I have clear glass in the door which allows me a reasonable view of the traffic at juctions. If I was travelling with a passenger I think there would be few if any driving problems, other that it is quite a wide vehicle for many Biritsh roads. but that would be the same if it was a right hand drive.

I intend to travel on the continent later in the year, so then I will be in the correct driving position anyway.

One thing which is a bit difficult is that the door and steps open into the traffic. So that is something to be aware of when just parking in a layby or at the side of a road.

There is difficulty with the intenrnt signal here in Shetland, so the journal only gets updated sporadically, but if you are following check back as there is more to go on as soon as it its possible

It is wonderful up here in the far north of the uk, even at this time of year, and well worth making the effort if you are at all interested in archaeology and native wildlife. Plus the folk and most friendly and welcoming.
