HWH 210 Leveling Jacks not responding to Joystick
Hey All,
We’ve been spending days trying to see why our Damon Intruder 2003 373, HWH 210 series leveling jacks aren’t responding to the joystick.
We found a YouTube video and cleaned up the components under the joystick. When it is in the on position there are light’s indicating it’s on and the yellow/orange level indicator lights are on. The pump will kick on and build pressure and then stop when complete. I hear a click when I move the smaller sticks into position. Then when I try to level by moving the larger joystick forward or backwards nothing happens.
We’ve replaced the SAZ 4201ER today with hopes it would help. It did not.
I look forward to any other ideas. We head out in two days.
Thanks in advance.

HWH 210 Leveling Jacks not responding to Joystick
I have same 210 system on my rig.
My pump only runs when large lever is moved.
See pic, circles in red.
check the 10 amp fuse is good on the ground lug by pump.
Also check for 12vdc across the two small solenoid wires whenever the large center lever is moved to any of the 4 positions.
If theres no 12v across the 2 small solenoid wires the control circuit under levers is bad or a bad connection between.
If there is 12v theres an issue with motor or motor wiring.
Ive also attached a couple manuals that go into more detail.
Member azpete on here works for hwh and is also very helpful.
Call him at 602-549-3638 and leave a message

Hi there.
Managed to trace that the solenoid cables are getting low voltage. 8.5 and less than 2v on the second one.
Ground looks good.
Does this mean the issue is inside the control unit?
Also when I turn system on from the t control plate, the pump just runs continuously getting very hot. I replaced the solenoid relay as well so it makes no sense that it’s stuck open or closed.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated

I would remove one of the small wires on solenoid and see if pump still runs. It shouldn’t with one of the coil wires removed. If it does the solenoid is stuck closed or theres a short in motor wiring somewhere.
If not it suggests the control circuit is bad.

Update- I spoke with AZpete and followed Jon’s suggestion regarding the small wire on the solenoid relay. It did in fact stop the pump from running. When I placed back on, pump started running again. Based on this AZpete said it sounds like a continuous ground issue and asked if I had the insulation washers in the grounding plate below the joystick on the control module. As it turns out, there were non. I installed some nylon washers on the top and bottom side of grounding plate so as to eliminate metal to metal contact.
When I turned unit back on the pump was not running so that issue was fixed. However, nothing works though. Jacks don’t engage and nothing responds to the joystick engaging front or back jacks.
Any ideas?

Sounds like issue is in the control circuit / lever area.
I have never taken mine apart so I don’t have any specific advice to give.
I would inspect to learn how the joystick activates the pump circuit. There may be mechanical or electrical issues keeping it from making contact.
I bet azpete probably knows, I would contact him again.
It would be easy to rig a momentary switch to activate the solenoid/ turn on pump when you move the lever just to get by for awhile.
Based on above, the joystick provides a ground to the solenoid to engage motor, so just a switch with one contact to frame and the other to the ground side of the coil should do it.
You can jumper the ground side of coil to the ground lug to test first, if motor runs the switch will work, then push switch while lever is in any of the 4 positions.
If it doesn’t run you’ll also need to jumper the other coil connection to +12v. I would remove and tape off the hwh wires. One of the large motor wires will be hot, I would put an inline fuse of 10 amps to the coil.
This may be too much trouble but since you’re leaving soon I thought you may want a workaround.

Hey, so we are still having issues with the pump. We thought we narrowed down to the ground plate so I purchased a new one. Same issues.
What I’ve tried with the nylon washers:
1. Washers below the risers
2. Washers above the risers
3. Washers on top of the grounding plate under the screws.
The pump doesn’t run with option one and two. But continuously with option 3. Took all the washers off and the pump runs non stop.
I’m at a loss at this point. I’ve read the service manual and tried everything suggested.
I’m wondering if I’m just installing everything wrong. I’ve watched a YouTube video and ready the manuals.
It seems we have nailed the grounding issue to the grounding plate because the different configurations with it is what causes the pump to run continuously or not at all.
Any other ideas?

Control Panel
I am a little late joining in. I have taken mine apart but be careful. I had to replace a circuit board inside when a tire blew out and took out my whole system. But when you take the cover off connections are made to the internals by what appears to be little copper springs. If they become oxidized and not making proper contact it could cause problems. Make sure you have bright work lights before removing the panel to see loose parts. The company was good about helping me when I replaced the board and cable assembly. Found some Pixs. First is the board and second shows the springs on the control panel. Try cleaning contacts. I have more Pixs if you need them.

Thanks to all for your replies. We finally figured it out. The pins that go to the crown plate needed to be flipped. When we took it apart we must have not paid close enough attention. It was an easy fix that cost weeks of time and $ of parts. But now it’s fixed.

well, at least now, you really really know how everything works.
the best learning opportunities are when we make mistakes.
ive learned a lot myself.
glad you got it fixed.
