There is not a forum for the Astoria. So we have used this thread as our pseudo forum. Ask away.

We also have a 2008 Astoria 3786. Bought it new and enjoy it! I also watch all the Damon threads since the models may differ but lots of cross over of items.
We have done some modification over the last 9 years. Added 835W of solar, upgraded the inverter to a 2800 PSW, added a auto gen start (which to date has only been used to test it because the solar keeps us charged), teid the inverter to all the AC outlets, increased the house battery bank to 6 6V AGM 220amp batteries, installed MCD blinds to replace stock, added window awnings, took out one of the sofas and installed a desk and storage, replaced the two captians chairs with new ones with lumbar support and foot rest, replaced the house lights with LEDs, replaced the original rear view system. Current project for this year is replacing the slide out weather stripping. Might also add a slide out tray.
We have defendly made the motorhome ours.

Steve, You have done a bunch of modifications to your original coach. We have a 2010
3772 and are getting ready to replace the dinette with table and chairs. That makes eating a lot more comfortable but it's one bed gone for my grandkids on our annual pilgrimage to Silverwoods in CDA every year. I know that DW would love to replace the short jackknife sofa with a desk but now that's another bed gone and where do I sit?! We don't like the tile floor so thought a bunch of Arabian cushions on the floor would do the trick with bong pipes and hookahs Send some pics of your interior -would love to see it

The DW & I have done some nice upgrades to our 05 and the hard wood floors is one of the best we've done. We absolutely love them and Ernie did an awesome job. Made the inside look brand new.

After the frame of my GMC Terrain broke just before Christmas and parted company with the coach I finally got it back, nicely repaired in just 7 weeks. The GM collision centre manager was very reluctant to use the same base plate again so replaced with a Blue Ox.
We has numerous other issues on the trip but my main concern is keeping the coach in as good looking condition as possible. Not just for resale but because we want to keep it nice. The seat coverings is a product called 'Naures Alternatve' and it isn't wearing very well. I spoke with Flexsteel who told me that Thor bought a ton of this material and gave it to them to cover seating in several model ranges. In our coach the vinyl surface is wearing off down to the base material. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have a 'fix'

We can't find the converter/inverter on our 2006 Astoria!! The owners manual mentions it, but not where it is located. I'm having some issues with it charging from shore power. Looked all over the coach, do you or anyone know where to find it?
Thanks,
Gary in Indy

2006 Astoria. Having issues with it charging from shore power. Does fine from engine and the generator. The manual mentions a converter and inverter but not where it is located in the coach. We have looked all over for it BUT, I can't find it. Do you know? Thanks!

Hi, we have a 2008 Astoria, our inverter and converter was originally mounted on the top of the passenger's side rear compartment.

We have a 2010 Astoria and the inverter and converter are both mounted to the ceiling, which is the underside of the coach floor in the back cargo locker on the passenger side. Which I just noticed is the same as Steve above!
Good luck

Hi Gary, This is Dennis from Burns Harbor north of you on Lake Michigan. I have a 2006 3595 and it is not a Pacifica edition so it does not have an inverter. It does have a smart converter made by Intellipower, mine has the Intelliwizzard option that periodically runs a desulphation cycle on the batteries. Intellipower has a good on line presence and was helpful when I inquired about the converter being good with AGM batteries. It is according to them and have had no trouble for the 8 months or so since I changed to AGM.
The converter on my coach is behind the black plastic panels that cover the fresh water tank on the passenger side. The panels must be flexed to remove but can be coaxed out of their position. My panels had a couple of selfdrilling screws with broken heads I removed them with channel locks and drilled and tapped their replacements. I did not remove the water fill hose and just left it attached and got enough access for what I was up to, working on the house power box in the next bay.
The converter is mounted on a plywood panel over the fresh water tank. The transfer switch is next to it and mine had a loose ground connection at the lug bolted to the upfitter frame work. The wire was a bit short and barely connected. I rerouted it and it was long enough to make a secure stress free termination. My house power 120 box which is mounted into the wall between water and storage areas was a push to connect box and had more wires than it could handle. The grounds may have not been connected. As I wanted to add another circuit I replaced it with a new box and screwed and wire nut connectors. Hopefully you just have a loose connection, The info from Intellipower makes me believe it it a quality product and the fact that it was AGM compatible with the Inteliwizzard module saved me some time and money. There is an Led inicator light that tells you what the converter is doing. The description of the LED codes is in the manual.
When I did factory service for refrigeration, the warranty info required filling out a form, one section had check boxes Off, Missing, Loose, Disconnected and I have seen a lot of that with the 2 moterhomes I have owned first one bought new and second clean low milage used. The push connector duplex recepticals are problematic and I had trouble on both coaches.

Homeless, really houseless and it feels good! Day 3.
Our home of 29 years in Gilroy CA is sold. Furniture shipped. We are now houseless and full time in our 2008 Astoria 3786, at least until we find another place to call home.
This should be an interesting adventure, or so we hope.
Any other Astoria owners living full time in their motorhome?

water heater/slider control panel over passenger seat
looking for a little help please. 2006 damon astoria 3465 Had work done on a water heater not working on electric. They replaced a switch and now nothing works. If possible I am looking a wiring diagram or some pictures on the switch connections behind that panel that has the water pump, levels, water heater and slider. I am able to get the water heater to work by providing 12 v to the proper wires so I know the water heater functions properly. Also I noticed that the sliders (2) are not working. The breaker looks ok i am curious it their may be a fuse or reset near the motors? does anyone know? I would suspect Astoria 2005 - 2008 should be very similar, maybe an extra slider.
Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help with the water heater but may with the slides. Have you had the slides working prior to now? If so it may be the Lippert controller which is mounted to the ceiling of the cargo bay area in between the chassis rails. The driver front slide controller is accessible by going in on your back in the second cargo bay door on drivers side. It's a black box about 3 x 4 x1. I watched a service guy do mine when it failed. He had a jumper and bypassed the controller and the slide went out until a new controller arrived. Second idea and I'm not trying to be smart here, if the coach is new to you and you have never had the slides out before, you have to remove the ignition key to activate the slides. I still forget that sometimes and start the coach prior to departure and then try to pull the slides in Dah!
