Is there a group of Astoria Owners?

Merry Christmas and happy travels in 2019. We’re spending January at Gulf Shores Alabama, February at West Palm Beach and March in Destin Florida. It’s nice to be full timing it in the Astoria. We’ll be in Madison Ga for the balance of the year.

Where are other Astoria owners spending winter?

Steve

Hi Steve and Jean,
We are staying at home in Holland. We plan to go full time in our Astoria 2008 3772. We have a couple of houses, all for sale now. But as soon as they are sold we plan to hit the road.
For the time beeing we use the Astoria for holydays and short trips. We love driving it.
Merry Christmas to you all.

Already taken the Astoria to a storage lot in Las Vegas as driving it down from Canada at Christmas time isn't a pile of fun. Blew the turbo boost hose off north of Yreka CA and had to be towed back to Medford OR to find out why it wouldn't run. Will drive back down in the toad after the holiday season and spend a couple of months at Rio Bend resort in El Centro CA. After the airshow at the Naval Air Facility we'll head to the coast to visit wifes family and then the long drive home up I-5.
Seasons Greetings to everyone

Wow, I once worked for NV Philips! We’ve travelled to Holland several time and enjoyed the people, history and sights.

Sofa sleeper

The air mattress on the sofa sleeper finally gave up the ghost. After all I think it has been slept on a least 8 times. The pump still works but the amount of holes keeps ahead of it. Splits are occurring on all the square mouldings so it's junk. On reflection, I would have been reluctant to let the grand kids use it in the pool.
It's was an Aero Bed and the reviews are horrible. I researched a replacement knowing that it had to be no more than 8 inches high to fit under the frame mechanism without getting compressed. I decided on an Innomax Foreveraire.
WOW what a difference in construction. It's built with a material similar to aircraft safety vests. It inflated in minutes and stayed that way for days with some weight on it. The queen size is around $140.00. I lucked out and got an 'open box' for $90.00 so was pleased with that. Got guests for a couple of week in January so I feel quite confident that it will do the job. I'll let you know if we have any snags

That is great info. We tossed out our hide-a-bed and only kept the jackknife sofa when we installed the desk and storage unit. We have been thinking about replacing the jackknife with a hide-a-bed but have not found one that works for the slide. An inflatable mattress on the floor would work for those rare times we have onboard visitors.

2006 Astoria 3465 here. Bought in December 2017 with 27000 miles. DW and I are ecstatic above the upgrade from a V8 30’ Airstream Land Yacht. Spelling? I am pretty newbie to DP so this is great to read.

Howdy.

Hope you enjoy your Astoria. You’ll need to increase that odo number by heading out to the state and national parks. We do like that Texas state park near Tyler, should be close to you.

Big Bend in the winter should be great also.

We have had our Astoria since new in 2008. We now full time and just travel around the country. (It was to be a six month trip to find a new home town but it has turned into a 19 month adventure and a mindset change to “why do we need a house”, except for investment.)

Our mod list continues to grow.

Enjoy and be safe.

Welcome to a group who just adore our rigs. The Astoria wasn't a high end coach but it had so many nice features that you would think it was. If there isn't enough bling just add your own. We've had our 2010 from new and wouldn't dream of trading her. It's a bit like buying a house. You can spend 200k more to get what you think you want or you can buy a lot of paint for a couple of hundred bucks. Think of the great places you can visit with your savings.
Enjoy
Happy travels

Here from Holland also happy travels in your Astoria. We are also very pleased with our 2008 Astoria 3772. Took quite a lot of work to get it inported to Holland Europe, but we are glad we did.
I like reading and learning in this forum.
Greetings from Karel&Dana

Welcome to the Astoria family. We’ve owned our 2005 3679 since Jan 2009 and absolutely love it. I had the floors upgraded to engineered hardwood ~3 years ago. From most I gathered people would say these are entry level coaches, but I’d put mine up against other rigs any time.
As mentioned, Big Ben in the winter is really great. Especially if you take a car or truck to drive all the roads, but we even had a great time on the Harley.

Interested in your upgrade to the engineered hardwood floor. How's that working out? I used to love the tile but after catching some air on an ugly speed bump that cracked three squares in front of the shower I have wished for something better. Plus I wear a prosthetic leg and walking on the tile when one's shoes are wet - be careful! How much furniture did you have to remove? Did you do it yourself or was it done professionally? Any problems with the slides and clearances? A few pics would be great if you have time.
I'm sure your project really enhanced an already great rig.

britcanuck,
The engineered hardwood is OUTSTANDING. It actually quieted the riding noise and is so much better than carpet or tile in my opinion.
The furniture (dinette, table, couch, & cap chairs, plus toilet) had to be pulled. No clearance issues as it’s about same thickness as pad & carpet.
I had it done by a gentleman who was a retired flooring guy here in TX and he did an awesome job. You would think it was built this way.
Let me get some new pics today and I will share.
