Unhappy Just got 2001 Damon Intruder

New to IRV2 and so happy to find a site for Damon RV’s. Just bought a used Intruder in good shape. The model floor plan says it is a 349, but it says by the driver door it is a 369. I suspect that is just the length as I cannot find where Damon made and 369’s in 2001.

Have a couple of questions, please? Can someone tell me where the hot water bypass is on this coach? It has been winterized and I cannot find the bypass. Some have said it is on the back of the water heater. There is a panel in the bedroom that says remove it to access water heater. But there does not seem to be a way to do so without prying it off. Is that right?

Second….the HWH levelers, press on the on button and they worked once but the right front was too far from the ground to level. Turned them off. Turned them back on and one red warning light and the yellow right front light blinked and whole system shut down and will not restart. Now right front is partially extended and cannot be raised.. Did I blow a fuse? Where are the fuses located? Help!

Might mention I am a senior female and NOT mechanically inclined!

Thanks for any help!

Welcome! I have a 2002 Damon Escaper so we may be the same or not. I hope this helps. The water heater panel in the bathroom just pops straight off, to put it back on just hit is with the heel of your hand and it will pop back on- one tap at each corner.

I am not sure what to suggest about the levelers but on our unit if one is down and you need to bring it up there is a little hand operated screw on each solinoid that will let it come on up. i had one I had to lift up with a pry bar till I got it rebuilt so I would open that screw, pry it up and close the screw. You might contact Stuart's Service in Indiana for help with the HWH system, they really helped me.

On my Escaper there is an electric bay below the driver with an access door from the outside and most fuses are located in there.

Thanks….here is another question

Well, today I finally found out from previous owners that they never knew where the bypass was either. So they just blew all the water out with air and put RV anti-freeze in the traps. Today I put it on city water and all is working fine.

As for the levelers….I will look for that fuse panel. I had heard it was under the dash on the drivers side. Have to be a contortionist to get under there to look since there is no driver’s door. Did not see one there.

Now I have a strange issue. I wanted to put water in the tank and discovered there is no outside place outside to do so. Should be next to the water heater outside just above the wet bay. Nothing there ! In the wet bay, there is the city water connection. Directly below it is the connection for the waste water flusher (clearly labeled as such). Did some interest research as well as checking out the owners manual and no place to fill the tank. Did read that some say they have a valve to switch on the city water connection between the city water and tank….but I am not finding one of those either. Where the bloody heck is it? The previous owners never used the fresh water tank so they were clueless as well.

THe bypass is likely on to - and slightly behind the tank. You should be able to reach but not actually see it. I had a heck of a time getting the flow proportioned correctly after opening the bypass. try to remember where it was.

The levelers sometimes get bypassed by the parking break or the gearshift positions. That's my experience. I pop the break and reset it and shift back to park sometimes several times, and miraculously.. it works!

On my 2002 Escaper there is a blue handled valve in the wet bay. Pointed down you are on city water only. Turn it 1/4 turn and it will fill the fresh water tank, as long as you are hooked up to city water still. Have to be careful not to overfill it (ask me how I found this out!). I found a photo of a 2004 Intruder wet bay and it shows the valve I am talking about to the right of the 2 water inlets, the city water and the black tank flush.

Someone may have re-engineered your system so that it isn't factory anymore but maybe this will help.
