latest kitchen project

The cabinet under the stove for us less than flexible people has been a source of pain since we purchased this rig.
so this past weekend i pulled out the old junk and built a sliding platform that holds the heavy pans and hung the skillets, added a cookie sheet retainer and BAM all is good.
now to take it all back out and stain it a nice cherry glaze

better pics i promise after DW stains and seals the wood
i was afraid we would loose space....but in the end we gained quite a bit. plus now the pots and pans are nested and together

Hey there PB,
We too have been having a hassle with that space. I'm not as handy as you are, so today I ordered this Shelves That Slide Slanted pullout . I hope to have it in a couple of weeks. I'll have to beef up existing shelf to be able to hold the slider. I really never realize just how flimsy these cabinets really are till trying to utilize them better.

its been a sore subject since we moved in....

i added a ventilated shelf up under the stove for the glass cookware
and the slide drawer was a piece of cake.
birch plywood and 1x2 and 1x4 for sides
i thought i would have to add tall sides, but the space on the side gave us tons of room to hang the skillet and a tray area for the cookie sheets
i like that i can pull it out and see everything and not sit on the floor.
i was going to leave the shelf in there from the factory, but its flimsy at best. so out it went.
hardest part was aligning the two slides to the new drawer.
found a new hiding spot. the big carpeted block you will find under the shelf in the back wall is a huge waste of space, it covers two wires near the sink side that i covered with a smaller wood cover and gained a huge square space that made it easy to build in the new stuff

oh yeah the sharp screws on the bottom of the stove i sealed with pvc tubing so no more scrapes and blood

you know that stupid spice rack thing over on the other side of the sink
that used to hold all the heavy pans....now its the tupperware and all the heavy pans are centered in the slide out
