Breeze,

Check your chasis battery for weak or dead cells and ground wire for corrosion.
Start simple, then go expensive,

I had a similar thing happen to me last fall. This is a 05 Allegro Bus with a freightliner chassis. I pulled into white sands national monument with 52,520 miles on it, parked for an hour and when I started back up I had 725 miles on it???? Has worked fine ever since, but I only have 3600 miles on it now. I wonder if the warranty will start back up. Maybe I was too close to Roswell. Works fine now, just has the wrong mileage on the odometer. I called freightliner and they said If I brought it in they would probably replace the odometer, but then it would still be starting at 0 miles, so I'm just going to keep driving it and see if it ever happens again. Most of the ones I worked on, had a wafer battery to keep the odometer working when the power was off. It sounds like the battery is loose or weak. If the speedometer has to be pulled, you or the dealer has to sign a affadavit as to the true millage. It will be returned with the correct millage on it.

Steve; I don't know who you spoke to at freightliner, but I have replaced a lot of these odometers. When you send in the old one, you have to send a affadavit (notorized) stating the true millage. I am sure you know, it is a felony to change the millage on a vehicle.
