Note for a job well done.
The Steps on my coach went ca-plunk. A couple on years ago it got to be undependable, sometimes it wouldn't extend all the way nor retract all the way in. I got under it just looking to see if I could see anything. Well, the main bolt that everything depends on had loosened itself and I tightened it and it worked good for this couple of years. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago. I started acting just like before. Old smarty me figured it to be the same problem.. Well, it as ...kinda...sorts. I couldn't tighten the bolt this time. I started loosening things and discovered that "That" bolt had seized up and sheered off.
Well smarty me called Lippert to try and buy a new bolt. After a nice long discussion with Dan about it. He informed me that they had discontinued that model and that they no longer have any of those bolts in stock. Ohhh, Whoa is me, I thought. Now what am I gonna do! Well, Dan played with me about it for a little while them he announced that he was gonna fix me up.
Oh boy, I thought.. He then told me that since I'm the original owner of this fine coach he would send me a whole new entry step. FREE... Can you believe that? AND he would pay for the first hour of labor to install it. Glory Glory.
End of story,,, The New steps arrived yesterday and I had "RV Specialists" come out to my home and installed it today. Now I can get in and out of the coach again. FYI, the old steps were "Coach Step" which has been discontinued and replaced with "Quickee Step".
So, God does still Bless us from time to time.
Ron

WOW^2,
That is great. Odd, my 08 Astoria's step had a bolt that just broke as I stepped down one morning while on our recent summer trip...and I ended up on the ground, what a "trip"! (No injury.) I ordered two new bolts from etrailer.com. They arrived and I've installed them all seems to work except this morning the step did not want to retract so I gave it a shake and it then worked. Now checking the condition of each bolt is on my check list.

Steve, the bolt I was referring to is in the middle, near the motor. It takes an Allen wrench to tighten/remove. The whole step extend/retract depends on it.

outstanding
mine gave me a fit a few months ago...but i persuaded it to work right after a few days of cleaning and oiling.
working the inside step now
going to ditch the step cover nightmare and put in a simple non moving step and make a storage bay under the steps for gloves and stuff like that

Wow, that's GREAT service!
Powerboatr, do you dare to go into details on the "step cover nightmare" comment?
We don't use the step cover in our 2001 Dutch Star. The PO demonstrated that it worked, but since the DW doesn't drive the coach yet, and always uses the foot rest in the front seat, we've not used the step cover to date. I am assuming from your comment that that is a wise decision?

Powerboatr,
Oh, and by the way, does your moniker refer to a specific boat you own? Or just to your day job when in the USN?

The nature of any forum is typically to air grievances or seek solutions to problems. It's great to hear a story of service above and beyond and I encourage others with similar stories to share to do so.
So glad it all worked out for you.

the insane system damon put in lifts the step up and folds parts in...it fails ALOT. the twisted drive is the weak link, but once its folded down in the step mode the step tends to roll forward a bit.
boat is for off shore boats we drove alot zoom zoom.
navy ships then tended not to let aviators drive...we are to perfect

Yeah, it's tough when an aviator takes the wheel and it handles better than when the swabby does!
21 year retired Army Aviator
Father was 28 year Naval Aviator . . . bet you can guess what our discussions were like!
