Our beloved "Benji"

ID:	12955Last night, we had to do one of the toughest things I've ever done. Our Benji got a cancerous tumor in his nostril a few months ago and has been going down hill since. Vet said he was too old to have anything done and to keep him happy and that we would know when the time came. That was last night. We have had him for 16 years and he has been a very large part of our family. We will miss him dearly and it is going to take some time to heal. He has passed to the "Rainbow Bridge"

We feel your loss and pain as we lost our little guy a few months ago. Our miniature 'doxie' lived a long life of 17 years. They are really "family" and it is a huge void when they are gone. Just remember all the good years you shared and all the love he gave you. His job was to love and protect you and I'm sure he did just that.

He was great. We are both having a hard time right now. I knew having him put down was going to be difficult, but it was much harder than I even realized. We both have a deep feeling of guilt, even though the vet said it was the right thing to do for his sake. We do try to keep talking about all the good times.

He is the biggest reason we got into RV'ing because we wouldn't go anywhere without him.

Thanks for all the kind words...

So sorry for your loss. We know exactly what you went thru. Had to do the same last Dec. That had to be the toughest thing we had to do. Our litle guy went down hill so fast after they diagnosed him with kidney disease. Again our thoughts are with you.

We have had close friends and family go through this and even the loss of a grand-dog, recently, but until you experience it first hand, it is hard to imagine. We do believe it would have been somewhat easier if he had gone naturally. Wouldn't have the guilty feeling.

Try not to feel guilty. We had to make that decision and it is not easy. To have a friend suffer in pain is just a horrible thing to do. We cried for days, but know in our heart that we couldn't watch him suffer just because we didn't want to let him go. You did the best thing. So very sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I just think of my doggies frolicking on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge young and healthy again and that helps.

So sorry for the loss of a great friend. Remember him for the great time you had.

We lost our Teddy after 16.5 years and it was sure tough.

We are trying to think about his suffering at the end. I know we did the right thing. His breathing was labored and his appetite started to wain. All within the last few weeks. We originally had him scheduled Sept 1st with a vet that would come to your house and take care of everything, but he got worse quickly and we moved it up and had to take him to his regular Vet. We do also know he is in a better place.

Got a call today that his ashes are ready and waiting for a special urn we ordered to come in.

I will eventually change my signature, but not ready yet...

We are taking the MH to Myrtle Beach Sept. 10th and it will be the first time we camped without him. That will be hard also...
