Power steering pump change

Tomorrow I’m going to tackle the power steering pump. Looking for advice on draining the power steering fluid from the reservoir. Also for those more mechanically inclined than I, I appreciate any tips or tricks to make the job easier. Thanks btw I have a 2007 Damon 4076.

I don't know your rig, but either remove the return hose or the pressure hose and drain it that way, or use a liquid suction device, like this.

Again, since we don't know what kind of rig we're dealing with it makes the answer a little more difficult. That said, it is usually best to buy a pump with the pulley already installed if you don't have puller and installer. The installer can be made from a bolt, washer and nut and many times comes with the pump. The puller, not so much, and would need to be purchased separately if the pump doesn't come with a pulley. You can't do this job with a 2 or 3 jaw puller, you'll invariably bend the pulley. You need a puller that attaches to the hub in the middle of the pulley. Good luck.

Im not too sure why I got two replies saying they don’t know what rig I have. I can see that I typed 2007 Damon 4076. I’m not sure what others see. Nonetheless today I replaced the pump. The original pump is a TRW 14-14323-000 that I replaced with a TRW 14-14323-004. To he specs between the two are very close. Same pressures between them. However the replacement draws a greater volume of fluid. The job took about twenty minutes in the school parking lot. I didn’t siphon out the fluid from the hydraulic reservoir instead I simply plugged the line after removing it from the pump. The high pressure line didn’t drip much at all. I may have added a quart or Dexron III back into the reservoir. Now it steers easy peezy.

When I said I don’t know your rig, I didn’t mean I don’t know what you have, I meant I don’t know about it. Glad you got it done.

The CHASSIS, not motorhome make and model is what we need to give advice on chassis questions.
