I installed my Christmas present this past Saturday. Got a new Pioneer radio, speakers and amp along with the XM radio receiver that is hidden so I can use the head unit to control everything. Un-cluttered the dash area too. I disconnected the speakers over the bed in the back and built two boxes that sit on the floor on the side of the captains chairs, against the wall, just in front of the seat belt mechanism. Replaced the speakers over the dash as well. Now we have a four speaker system up front with very distinc bass, treble and midrange. Much easier to listen to.

Now, where to go and when....

The factory system was so poor it was trying to listen to a clock radio over the drone of an air conditioner. The louder you put it so you could hear it the more garbled it got. Now even at low volumes the sound is very clear and distinct. Very happy boy right now.

Now where to go and when....

Congratulations! The radio in my '05 Daybreak is about the worst sounding radio I've ever owned.
But the radio, a Jensen, I think is the same as I had on my first class C and it worked fine. Damon changed the radio once but that was a waste as the new one was exactly the same and workwed the same, poor. AM is especially bad.
I did buy a power antenna and that helped a little but it still retains the 'worst soumding radio' title.

I did the same thing. The 'original' addiovox radio was a piece of junk!!. Replaced it with a new JVC unit and am very happy with it. It was easy to do and the new one fit in the same 'hole' in the instrument panel as the old one, and is actually wired 'better' than the factory did the original.

Is the radio the problem or the antenna? Our 06 Daybreak's radio is worthless too but we didn't know where to start to get better reception; Radio or antenna.

We've got an '06 Daybreak and the radio is ok (well, I don't recall actually trying the AM band but...)the speakers are crap. My plan is to get any decent aftermarket speaker(s) of the same size and it's bound to be better.

The speakers were the weak point for sure. I upgraded the tuner to get XM through the head unit. It was the radio/speaker combo in mine that was bad because even the XM sounded like garbage. Very easy install.

The antenna is an issue too. Mine is mounted horizontally above the drivers side window. reception is very poor. How effective can that be? Another reason we like satelite
