Step Cover

We have a 2008 Damon Tuscany 4072. The vertically articulating step only tries to open up on one side. Have not been able to find out who the step was/is made by. Does anyone out there know who made that step unit? Or how to get steps all the way open to get at the motor, drive unit, etc.

Thank You, Gary B.

Gary, you may try and hit the side hinges w/ some lithium grease - really soak them down.. once that's had time to penetrate have someone open the door while you pull on them, once extended that'll expose the motor and drive underneath.. mine appear to be a little "sticky".. which makes me think I'm going to wire wheel the teeth and lube it up.

Crawling under our 2007 - has a sticker by "Coach Step, Inc" at 800-433-1740

The controller for it is a SCS Frigette 202-3230, and the motor has a part# of 300-1406

Guess I was not clear enough on the step. I am referring to the steps inside the coach that fold up to make the flat floor in front of the passenger seat. Sorry about that.

Amusingly enough.. new to the rig - had no idea it did that - had to find the switch kinda buried next to the wife's seat.

There are no markings on the motor, it's a little guy that has two cables that drive two worm gears at 90*.. I wonder if yours could be co-erced up and get a little bit of gear lube on them - let me know if you'd like a picture of what's underneath.

Switch is not in the best/easiest place to get at. My wife has a terrible time getting to switch when step works. Thanks for the info. May ask for pictures later on after I get coach back from shop having some warranty work done.

Try spraying with “nuts off” or good penetrating oil and see if it gets loose, is it does grease the moving parts to protect them.

Step cover

Up date. With the help of another member I have been able to get cover up and with their help went right to the manufacture of the step unit and got all the parts that I needed to repair. Had a broken cable. Bought new cables for both sides along with new washers to replace the old ones.
