Heater Duct Cover

The heater duct cover was a beige/tan color with a bit of rust spots on it-

-so we decided to remove the rust spots and paint it to match the black oven door-

Residential Fridge Is In!

We did get the LG fridge in place today!
Here is a photo of the old Norcold-

-and here is a photo of the new LG-

It feels great to have it in the wall!
(we still have a bit of trimming to do)

Bedroom Is In Working Condition

Here is a list of things that were finished up this week:
  • Piano hinge installed on the mattress platform.
  • Mattress put back into the bedroom and bed has been made.
  • Old blinds put back up without the valances. (These blinds will be used until we put up new window coverings.)
  • Refrigerator is in it's location. (This was no small feat for two people in a narrow hallway either!)
  • LED light bulbs have been installed in many of the living area lights.
  • Outside lights have been checked to make sure they are in working condition.
The wind and rain kept us from putting up the slide topper awning this week. Hopefully the weather will be good & I will have a little bit of free time the day before Thanksgiving.

More Flooring Stuff...

There was an "OSB" sub-floor under the carpeting. It is still there as a base sub-floor but we have decided to cover it with oak plywood before we put the vinyl down.
We had to remove a strip of carpeting that was left under the slide-out edge before we can lay the oak down. This was not an easy process. Here is a photo showing the carpet strip-

-and here is a photo with it removed-

I am sure I will have another photo up soon with that area completely covered with oak plywood!

(PS-when I mention "we" above as having to do things- that is actually me more than likely 'supervising' and my DH doing all the work! )

Entertainment Center-Front Speaker Project

The "Entertainment Center" is being built as we speak. It will house the TV on it's lift along with the Blu-Ray player.
We have been talking about where and how we will mount the 5.1 surround speakers and decided one should be put in the cabinet above the Center.

Last night I got a bit ambitious. Here is what it looked like-

-and here it is now-

BTW, DH...you will find your hammer and the yellow tool kit holding them in place! (In other words...I need your help putting straps up to hold the speakers where they go.)

Flooring Continued

The birch sub-floor is down. We will put a protective coating on it for now.

The linoleum will go down sometime next year.

Entertainment Cabinet

Here is how our cabinet maker designs our Entertainment Center-

you can barely see a sketch on the old wood floor. (There is a close-up of it on the blog.)

Cabinet Latches

Here is an early stocking stuffer-

I am so excited that I will have secured cabinets and drawers in the bedroom area!

Cabinet Latch

These latches may be good quality- but you have to be perfect when you install them. (They don't 'give' like the plastic ones!)
