Tires, where and what...

My 2008 Damon Astoria is now 5 years old.
The tires only have 33k miles on them.
The DOT dates are all 2007.
They "appear" to be in good shape.... but a 9K mile trip coming up this year.
The current tires are Goodyear G670 255/70R22.5.

Where do you buy your tires and did you stay with the same brand and size or have you decided to move to another tire manufacture. FMCA has a "deal" with Michelin.

One tire place suggested that I switch to a 255/80R22.5 or a 295/80R22.5.

If I switch to the 80/22.5 I'll be a little higher, and would that through off the odometer and speedometer?

What would it do to handling and fuel economy?

What is the opinion and experience of those on the forum?

Steve

I'm gonna throw in a "me too" am also in the same boat with G670's in the next 30 days.
Local tire guy swearing up and down about Dunlops SP384's. Said they are available coast to coast which is appealing since the GY's certainly seem to be hard to locate.
Sorry if a highjack but rather than open yet another tire thread.

I think you could go another year, and I'd stay with the size
chosen by the chassis manufacturer. They usually know what
is the best combination of size and profile. I have an 08 Tuscany,
my tires are dated 3707, I'll change them next year. I assume you have owned yours since new, and they have not been
abused.

I would stay the same size if changing them out.

Myself, I would have them inspected by a real truck tire shop and if ok run them another couple three years.

Carry a unmounted spare, IMHO - whether you go new or keep'em.
