Touch up Paint in a spray can.

Hi all, Our motorhome is now 5 years old and has over 40K wonderful miles on it. I'm sure none on you have ever accidentally scraped or chipped the paint. Damon provided a touch up kit with three little bottles of paint. Using them only made the dings stand out.

I found a on-line auto paint company puts the paint in spray cans. Automotive Touch-up (automotivetouchup.com). While they said they couldn't guarantee a color match with the color codes I sent from my "Damon Recreational Vehicle Data Card" the match was so close I had a hard time telling the differences. The process was sort of easy, I learned that "feathering" the paint around the scrapped area was very important and blend the color and clear coat instead of stopping at the edge of the scrapped area.

I'm sure there are other companies that can do the same. A CS rep named Anita Fuchs was very responsive and pleasant to work with. They are located in the New Orleans area. 1 888 710-5192 Ext 104.

The RV shop I normally go to quoted $750 for the touch up of two areas. At 110/hr in CA I can see why, but the tack was completed by DIY for only $135. I wonder if it is difficult to use a paint sprayer in the future and save more....

Hi Steve,
I think you are right,we have all did some dings and scrapes at one time or another.I worked at Lockheed in Ga.for about 10 yrs.I painted on the C130,the 141 and the C5AandB.If you are not experienced in using a spray gun you can really screw things up.I would definitely get some practice in before I did any spraying.Just be careful with the over spray. It really is not Hard to do.Good Luck.
