2016 Miramar - happy so far
My wife and I now have our 33.5 and have to say we're very happy about the decision.
We both love the look and the floor plan, son loves the drop down bunk. I don't mind having the 6-speed transmission on this model year. I've had a number of Fords over the years - my current Explorer has 200k miles and going strong - so expecting long life from this Ford was well.
Had great help from Thor on a "custom paint" job and from Mike Chobak at General RV on the deal; Vern from General was great on the PDI and walk thru. We were less than pleased with how the F&I guys at General approached things - we did not use them in the end. I also passed on them doing solar; service manager couldn't answer any questions well and keep referring to the "kit."
Took longer to get everything done than originally promised, but it all works.
We compiled our list from others' PDI lists and tested every thing again ourselves, especially the biggies - slides, genset, air conditioner, leveling, hot water heater, furnace, fridge, etc.
Found only three minor issues, and one more important. We have some discoloration on the floor of the shower (don't really care) and the cabinet for the CD player could use a remote sensor or a prop. A cargo bay door latch needed to be adjusted.
The potential biggie: not 3 miles from the dealer after taking delivery the oil pressure light came on and the gauge dropped to zero. I called a mechanic I trusted and keep going; was intermittent. I had to take to Ford as a warranty repair. Terry's Ford in Peotone was great. Pinched wire - most likely during the build - which Terry's fixed.
The frustration with the last point: it could not have started with just me. I find it impossible to believe that it didn't also happen on the drive from Elkhart or around the lot at the dealer. General could have brought it up and saved me the concern. They have a Ford dealer across the street that might have been able to fix this, before I took delivery.
Net: very much looking forward to spring and hitting the road. She's inside right now, didn't need a Chicago winter on our new toy. We welcome any and all advice from those of you with more experience. Thanks in advance.
