Old Biscuit's circuit board mention reminded me of something. Many ACE coaches had/have an issue with the grill fins and location on the combustion air intake on the furnace cover. My 2015 29.3 had the problem. Rain would run down the sidewall and into the louvers that were turned up. The water would then collect on the circuit board causing the furnace to malfunction.

I was able to remove the circuit board, blow the water off/dry off, reinstall and have the heater function normally. I then cut the louvers out of the furnace cover (outside) and installed a chrome grill over the hole with the fins down. Worked fine there after. Did the same on my 2016 Miramar.

Here is the grill I used, just barely covered the hole I cut :

Question

Thanks everyone.
At a loss on what to do next (besides just give up). Don't want to keep throwing parts at it.

- Water isn't the issue as my cover is solid (except for exhaust). No slots for rain to get in.

- Furnace fires up properly.
- Runs for 8-10 minutes (does not come up to temp).
NOTE: If it does come to temp, it does not restart (process begins, but no ignition).
- Shuts down properly.
- Does not not auto restart (process does not begin).

- Soft Lockout (3 blinking lights).
- Can manually restart and repeat the above.

Thanks.
Any suggestions on which one?
I read about Dinosaur and Atwood OEM.
But which Dinosaur board (if preferred)?

Try not to get discouraged.
You are almost home and much farther ahead than taking your coach to a dealer (in both time and money). The satisfaction you will get when that baby fires up and runs right will make it all worth while.

PS: Thanks again Old Biscuit, you are the man (or at least the guru of all things furnace and water heater)!

Unhappy Unfortunately - that did not work...

Sorry Old-Biscuit.
Replacing the board did not work.
- replacement board has a fuse that is in the way of placement. Original board does not have the fuse.

BUT
I connected it - wiring was all correct.

Fired right up - and ten minutes later - off.

I reset the thermostat, went outside and watched...
green light on board... 3 tries... nada.

If I reset the fan, repeat the 10 minute deal.

I removed the board and am shipping it back.

Not the sail switch, not the high limit, not the board, not the ducting...
Anyone?

If you turn on the cook top burners and fire the furnace up, does the stove burner flame fluctuate or go out when the furnace does? Maybe a gas regulator issue on you main tank? You could fire up the furnace, put a meter on the furnace gas valve and see if the gas valve is being shutoff by something ( no voltage) or cutting gas flow off even with voltage on (bad gas valve).

Running the stove - flames are normal and don't flicker...
Can't say the stove has been on, when the heater went off. I can test that in the am.

Check your thermostat. My furnace in my ACE 30.3 was not functioning properly. Repair guy replaced many furnace parts then a whole new furnace. Still would fire, shut down, not fire at all, ext. Went to a new repair guy he replaced thermostat and the new furnace now works as it should. Now I have a spare furnace.

If it is the thermostat, the 12 volts should drop off the furnace gas valve just before the shutdown on the furnace. If it is the thermostat, may be a good time to change to digital thermostat.

You should be able to jumper some thermostat wires to bypass the thermostat and keep the furnace in heat mode. This way you can test the thermostat with out replacing. I don't know which wires that is unfortunately, maybe someone else does.

Good ideas - unfortunately as one of the tests I did this:

- We have two thermostats for two AC units. The bedroom tstat is not connected to the heat, only AC.

I swapped out the tstats and wired the bedroom one in. No change.

I think it is pretty unlikely that both tstats would be bad. Possible, but not likely...

?????

Oh yeah. Forgot you had already checked the thermostat.
