A wrap instead of a metal cover

Considering getting an RV wrap for a few $100 instead of a $20,000
Metal cover.
Any experience with these and what should I look for.

Ziplock works really well for sandwiches as does Reynolds foil.


If you are talking about a cover vs a garage well garage is a more longer term process and allows one to attend to the life consuming maintenance activities of our castles on wheels where as a cover does not. Boats get wrapped in plastic off season, some can be equipped with a door way and air circulation measures as well the sky is the limit. Info in the Q and response highly correlated.

Built a 24' x 44' metal shed for mine at about $13k.



If you can afford the metal cover without missing the money then do it. If the money being spent would stress you, then use the tarp.


No comparison between the two, only advantage to the tarp is the money savings, every other consideration favors the metal cover once it is completed.

We had an RV carport built for our Axis. The main advantage is protecting the roof from damage - falling twigs, nuts, squirrels, etc. The metal cover takes the impact of anything coming off our trees or our neighbors'. The second advantage is protection from the weather - rain, hail, blazing sun, etc. Again, the metal cover takes the brunt of any impacts. It's also easier to work on our motorhome out of the elements without having to remove a soft cover. We have access to everything both interior and exterior.

After having to replace the roof membrane on our '96 Daybreak, the money spent for the RV carport is a drop in the bucket by comparison.
