AC Thermostat

Our 36FD has Attwood A/C's and we would like to change out the thermostats to ones that are backlit. Realizing that anything that says RV comes with a price has anyone used a low voltage (12v) residential thermostat. It's hell to turn on the lights when everyone is trying to sleep to adjust

It might help to know the exact model of thermostat you have and what it's controlling.
