ACE 29.1 slide knocking noise update
Posted long ago about loud knocking noise in slide behind drivers seat when driving. This noise sounded like a wrench or screwdriver had been left at top of slide and was verrrryy obnoxious while driving. Campers World (Katy, Tx) called yesterday to say that THOR had contacted them concerning fix. Motor was the issue. I had previously pulled Schwintek drawing of slideout and viewed Youtube videos and had in fact called both Lippert and THOR that I thousght it had to be something with motor (lippert agreed) but had not heard back from THOR until now. So if anyone else still has this same issue (maybe I'm the last to find out) there is now a fix. Other than that very happy with ACE. Will be leaving on several trips after hip surgery next week or as soon as I can drive. Finally retiring after hip surgery is completed so fish beware!

We have a 2014 Hurricane 34E and while driving her home today from a transmission oil line recall event from Ford, we also began to hear exactly what you described behind me. It seemed to get progressively worse on the 30 mile trip home. Where do I begin, with dealer, Lippert or Thor ? Thanks for the info.....jim

Seems like the slide issue effecting several models, Palazzo, Challenger and ACE. Must be the Schwintek. My coach is at Thor now, slide being repaired.

Slideout banging noise while driving 29.1 ACE model year 2011
Lippert makes the schwintek slide out and according to camping world (Katy, Tx) THOR now approving warranty fix(at least for me). This "fix" has something to do with the slide motor which I got Lippert to agree to some 8 months ago but THOR just recently approving repair as Warranty.

So, does anyone know what the fix involves?
Does the motor have to be replaced? or maybe the screw that holds the motor in place has fallen out or is loose. Does the motor just need to be wrapped to stop it bouncing around?
I'm going to check mine tonight.
I just had it into my dealer for this exact issue (noise) and when I got it back, (Tuesday) it still had the noise.
Leaving tomorrow for a 3 week trip.
Yikes!!

slide out knocking noise
originally my DW and I tried a brace to try and alleviate rattle and it didn't work. Not to long ago CW tried to sell the idea that a brace would work. Since I had researched the schwintec slide system (simple system) and knew the components
AND talked with Lippert I knew differently. And while Lippert did not directly admit mechanical fault they did agree that sounded like a loose component. Get ahold of your dealer or authorized repair facility and have them (or yourself) contact THOR and get the slideout properly repaired. I now drive my ace and only hear acceptable shake, rattle, and roll noise.

I have had that thump on my slide since day one. I just dealt with it. It only happens when going over bumpy terrain. On the highway, it is non-existent.
Is the motor flopping around in there and banging against the side panel? How does one get inside to secure a loose motor?

I have the same noise since day one when I drove it home from the dealer. Wasnt sure what was up and now I know. Hope someone who has had it fixed can post what was the issue so I can inform the dealer. I will be taking mine back in for some other warranty items and would like to get this fixed at the same time... Thanks...

We had the knock since day 1, had the CW folks look at it, said a slide lock at knee level would work. Did not. Then I read in another forum (or not) that a Lippert or Thor service rep. suggested holding the retract button on 5 sec. or so longer after the slide retracted. This has worked for us. No noise from Gold Beach Oregon to Astoria+, 300mi., on old Hwy 101, plenty of bumpy encounters. Don't know if this is a coincidence, but we are 95% knock free.

Plot, thanks for sharing... I'm gonna give that a try this weekend. Camping World told me the same thing. When I disagreed with them they told me that is how they have been dealing with the problem for the past several years...
