I recently tried to retract my awning and one of the gas rods/strut that maintains tension on the awning got stuck and eventually bent in half.
The only way to get the awning to retract was to drill out the pins that hold the gas piston/strut in place. Then the awning was not tight enough to roll up properly with one gas piston working and the other missing. After a few tries with manually applying tension on the missing piston side, i got it to roll back up good enough.
Does anyone know what type of replacement pistons/strut to get? I will get back out there and measure these things, but I have no idea how many pounds of force they need to be rated for.
