I don't think it will raise up again until the temps get hot again next summer. Most of the problems reported were with outside temps above 95.

My motorhome is currently in Indiana at Thor. They are working on the generator issue, apparently , placing a heat shield box around it. Also working on slide issues.

Will not truly know if the problem is resolved until next summer, when temps get above 85-90 deg.

sscarp,

Can you post pics of the heat shield Thor installed?

For Fault Code 14 (Overfrequency Fault) the manual says you have to take it to the authorized Onan Dealer. The warranty on the Generator itself is supposed to be 2 years from Onan. Hopefully you have a Cummins/Onan Dealership close by.

Just got back from a trip to Orlando. Ran the generator the entire time down there and the entire time back. Temps on the way down were in the 60's, so no surprise it worked fine. On the way back, it was 90 degrees. Again, no problems at all.

I did notice that it was running a bit rough after we got down there. Turns out, it was on the low side on the oil dip stick. I filled it up to full for the return trip. It ran very smooth. I guess my generator likes to eat oil.

Onan is over an hour away. I will not take it there. Thor had it nearly 3 weeks to fix this issue. Next stop is attorney. Oh, and now my windshield is leaking.

We just bought a 2013 ACE 29.2, I just checked and our has no box or heat shield and you can see right into the engine/exhaust area above the generator. Wouldn't you think if they know they have a problem, they would re-design this area insted of continuing to build them the same way? I guess we'll find out next summer if we also will have an over-heating generator.

I just noticed from having requested the latest set of diagrams from Thor (electrical and plumbing) that the newest edition 29.2 for 2013 has moved the generator to the rear of the coach. Appears to have happened for models released on or after 11/13/12. I can't help but wonder if this is in response to the overheating issue that has been reported? Also, I'm unsure what might be involved in re-locating the generator from an older edition to the newer location if the overheating can't be resolved in another manner? Does anyone here have the latest coach with the generator located in the rear of the coach? If so, maybe some pictures could be posted?

Just what you want, the generator running under your bed... not sure if that is a good plan.

I'm trying to figure out where they moved it. It seems the only place toward the rear of the coach is in the Mega-Storage.

Ours is a 2013 model, but was purchased in October before the manufacturing change.

The only specific information I have is the commentary (notes) on the schematic. There's a "GEN" box indicated at the driver's rear of the coach and an associated note (6) that says: "Moved GEN to rear of unit" dated 11/13/12. Two additional notes: (7) says "Move slide control to trunk", and (8) says "Added receptacle for exterior entertainment system option".

I posted originally hoping someone might have the latest edition of the 29.2 with a generator mounted in the rear (if this drawing is correct) that could supply us with pictures of how it's actually installed.

If it has indeed been moved to the rear, there's clearly impact to the mega-storage space because that's the only "rear" available.
