Return from Thor

Just received my coach back with the gen relocated. Unfortunately, won't know if it is a fix probably till next year, as I won't be in temps over 80 deg till then.

I am interested in knowing how noisy it is inside with generator running. We want to boondock, and am afraid it will be loud in yhe bedroom when gen set is relocated.

I'm curious about the noise on the outside next to it. I take mine tailgating and I'm very worried about the noise on that side now where everyone sits and congregates.

That's a really good point. I guess generators are on the "services" side of gas coaches and the front of DP's for a reason.

Thanks

I cut a hole in the door and made my own screen for it. I also used tons of Dynamat to insulate the gen set all the way to the top. There is no way for engine heat to mix with generator air intake.

Works for me in high heat while driving. Some noise control too.

So with this set up did you drive it for a long period in the heat, say above 100 degrees?

Gen noise

I will be using the RV this weekend. I will follow up on the noise. From inside the coach I acutally like the quieter living area. I had them put some sound insulation around the new compartment, and in the bedroom it seems more like just backround white noise.

So are you telling us that the vented door and push pump isn't working?

Judy,

Nope not saying that at all! Just the opposite. Actually my partner just returned from the trip to California. It worked like a champ. Ran while traveling, ran when stopped, put 200 hours the genset. Temperatures were hot up to 114 degrees, average temps when traveling was high 80s to mid 90s. No problems whatsoever. Looks like all is well with ours. The push pump, heat shield and small vent seems to have done the trick.

I just got mine back last night, and I agree the overall genset noise seems reduced with it mounted in the new location.

Moonshine..can you respond to my previous question here? I'm still scratching my head on this one.

I'm confused, does this apply only to the 2103 29.2s? On my 2012 model the LPG tank is in the driver side bay right behind the genset, not in the rear or on the passenger side. Swapping the two seems like an easy enough move, but would that be far enough back for the genset to eliminate the issue?

Fred,

I didn't respond earlier because I was confused as well. My coach is a 2013 model (man Mar of 2012), and the layout on mine is the same as every 2011, 2012, and 2013 (prior to Nov 2012 production) 29.2 that I've ever seen. The LPG bay was originally on the passenger side immediately behind the rear wheels and forward of the mega storage. The original genset location was on the drivers side, immediately behind the front wheel. For the fix, the two were swapped. I'm not doubting your coach layout, I've just never seen a 29.2 brochure, schematic, or coach in that configuration.
